Description Map of Africa in a post colonial era where nationalism skyrocketed. When Egypt and Sudan declared independence, nationalism spread widely through the colonial possessions. When the Algerian war for independence broke out, several other wars broke out as well. The Algerian independence movement and other movements joined forces, and overthrew French Rule in Africa, forming the Republic of United Africa. A similar movement happened in the British colonies when their colonies overthrew british rule, forming the Democratic Republic of Great Africa. Both nations had disputes with one another and nearly 18 wars in a 30-year period. Other colonies not under Anglo-French rule declared independence and opposed the two huge nations. They formed the African Independent States.

Red- Democratic Republic of Great Africa
Green- Republic of United Africa
Yellow- African Independent States

There are actually three.

But I can see you mean the red and green.
One used to be under French control and the under was British. Both have wars with one another over uniting Africa under one banner.

And they're good in terms of (previously) multinational relations? For example, is there a main language?

Basically, within the DRGA and RUA, is there a single official language, or is there a "national" language combined with various different languages per state, or is there perhaps no single language that can be agreed upon, forcing national and international trade to be performed in a myriad of different tongues?

Red is disputed
Yellow has none
