The Constructicons were formerly harmless bots that only served the function of construction. That was until the Decepticons captured them and Shockwave performed experiments on them, reprogramming them to be aggressive and loyal to Megatron. Shockwave also re-engineered the team to be able to combine together, resulting in a monstrosity known as devastator.
