Description
The title is all I can recall of a dream I had only a couple weeks ago, and so without any other way to remember it I just let myself run wild with what it could mean. After having previously done a little experimental piece called Dead Bird. , only to come across the sad little corpse of a hummingbird (which was featured extensively in the photoshoots for pics like Disciple ), suddenly everything in the image took on an avian form, and all things were birds and birds dying.

While I probably pulled a lot of inspiration here from some of the works of Odilon Redon, the scene itself honestly reminds me a little of a sequence that stuck as a child in the ending of Giant of the Skies , an episode from BBC's Walking with Dinosaurs. Where a giant yet elderly Ornithocheirus flies half-way across the world to return to his yearly breeding grounds, but is shunned away by the younger males that have taken his place. Dethroned by the youth, the ancient beast is forced to fly onwards for open space until he is left in a desolate location, compelled by vain instinct to do nothing but still call out for a mate until his death. It was heart-wrenching to watch as a young child, and stayed with me in the back of my mind as I moved on in life.

But although this has influenced the piece, but I cannot say it holds the same meaning here. And honestly, I'm at a loss as to what it all actually means; it mostly came to me as I went. I'll leave it to the viewer to tell it's story.
