With a slow, drawn out nod, Shaya agreed as she held the bloodstone he'd given her. Over and over she repeated the Hindi mantra as instructed. First forwards, then backwards. Over and over as the pain lessened until another contraction came and she arched off the bed, growling while pressing her free hand against the distended mass before her. She could feel them moving and shifting, heading towards her center. The pressure continued to build.

Panting, she ground her teeth while tears continued to stream down.

Rayven whimpered suddenly while Cain turned. “Rayven?” His eyes widened as he noticed his adopted son holding his belly in distress. Rushing to his side, pressing his hand against Rayven's brow, Cain checked for a fever while Rayven continued to breathe deeply. “Are you sick?”

“No, no Rayven... Momma... Momma hurt,” Rayven's soft green eyes widened

“Shaya? Momma's hurt?” Cain grabbed his shoulders roughly. “What's wrong with momma?!”

It was by far not the best blood circle Jasper had ever drawn, but given the circumstances it would have to do.

On top of being Shaya's adopted son, Rayven was also Shaya's familiar. If Rayven was not aware already that something was wrong, it would likely not take much to convince him. Cain, on the other hand... Jasper was not sure about Cain. Of course, the towering white wolf was Shaya's mate, and he would do anything for her. It was just summoning such a colossal, angry creature that would be the problem. The professor certainly had one of the Vaewolf's bloodstones as well... somewhere... but if he could get away with just this then maybe--

With a black, sooty sand Jasper drew a line from the outside of the circle he had created into the centre, pouring it over and around another one of Shaya's bloodstones that lay in the centre. "Veni huc, Rayven huc veni," chanted the Djinn in a low voice. "Sanguis eius per viam iter est. Veni huc, huc veni. Veni huc, huc veni Cain. Sanguis eius per viam iter est. Veni huc, huc veni." Then, before resting his fingertips at the opposite end of the line, he glanced over his shoulder at Shaya. Fear glossed his eyes. He finished the summoning, accidentally sending that image in his mind with it.

“Rayven!” Cain snarled while Rayven looked up at him fearfully. “What is wrong with momma?”

It was obvious that great white wolf was panicking. His mate was in trouble and he was no where near. He needed to find her. There was no two ways about it. And Rayven was the key.

“Rayven no know,” the terrified half blind wolf whimpered, his hand raised before his face to shelter him from the fearful watches of his father. “Rayven no know. Just momma hu....” Suddenly Rayven arched back, falling against Cain's belly as he screamed. “Pain! Momma pain!”

Cain's violet eyes shrank to mere pinholes. As Shaya familiar, Rayven was experiencing her pain and more than anything he was certain she was in trouble. Scooping up Rayven into his arms, cradling him like an infant against his chest, Cain began to run. He knew that Shaya was heading to see Jasper last. He needed to check there first.

Panic had settled in. His muscles were working on blind memory as he raced through the halls, sidestepping the unsuspecting students of Otherworlde who stood in his way. And those who leisurely blocked met with the side of him that he had kept hidden at Otherworlde. A small group stood there chatting merrily, unconcerned with moving as he approached.

His eyes narrowed when he was forced to stop. The group blocked the expanse of the hall, and Cain towered over them, seething while he clenched his son tightly against him. But they seemed to think him less than a bother.

“Excuse me,” he growled. He was trying to be polite like his mate always insisted. She always reminded him this was not his pack, and that students needed to be treated with respect.

Though the students just laughed, rolling their eyes.

He was about to say something when suddenly he felt a pull drag on his mind. It was powerful, making his mind throb in annoy while Rayven grabbed his at his eyes, arching in Cain's arms. Flashes of Shaya laying on a makeshift bed on a floor, holding her belly while she screamed in agony.

“Jasper...”

It was the Djinn, he knew it. Only the Djinn would summon him like this.

Closing his eyes, trying to peer further into the vision, he saw the LIN class room but it was the tears streaming down Shaya's cheeks that held him. She was crying, begging for them. She wanted her family.

Howling in fury that he was not there. That his mate was delivering their pups without him, he glared at the group and bared his fangs. His eyes glowing with the fiery fury of Hell like embers in the darkness as he surged towards them in a threat display.

“GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY NOW!!!” he roared, commanding them with authority of an alpha. But it was the terrifying darkness that began to surround him as a shadowy silhouette began to slither from his body. Spreading it's wings, the creature stared down at the frightened students. And it shrieked, his high pitched cries hurting their ears as they backed away from Cain, covering their ears.

Snapping his jaws at them, Cain sprang into action again, running as fast as his long legs would take him. All the while, his thoughts turned to Jasper, unaware whether he could hear him or not. “Jasper, you take care of my dark angel and my pups. Because if they are hurt, your manacles will be the least of your worries.”

Arching back, Shaya collapsed to the bed. The pressure was too much while the pain grew the small of her back. “Jasper!” she wailed like a banshee on the moor. Her eyes rolled back. Her teeth clenched more and more until she was sure they'd shatter. “They're coming! They're coming NOW!”

Jasper was so focused on leading Cain in the right direction that he did not register what Shaya had said at first. All he had understood was that Cain had sent him a threat. How ungrateful. When Shaya's cries finally clued in, Jasper's eyes flew open and the Djinn sprang to his feet. "They are WHAT?!"

In an instant he had returned to Shaya's side. He wiped his hands on the blankets to clean them and stared in blank horror at Shaya's spread legs. Never before in his two millenia of living had Jasper felt so underqualified to a task. "W-w....water. Right. You needed water." He snapped his fingers loudly and the faucet in the other room turned on. "Alakazaam!" His frantic voice sent a bucket that had been used for mopping (but was perfectly clean, as Jasper liked it) to scuttle towards the other room and return with the water. Why the blond had not done that in the first place was beyond his thoughts at the moment. Being as anxious as he was, the bucket splashed its contents along the floor. Jasper did not seem to notice nor care. He took the bucket up and stared back at Shaya's legs.

"Shaya, what do I do?" Forget the calm, cool and collected professor that he made himself out to be. His entire image was flying out the window like Selene's flying broomstick, but Jasper could not care less. There were lives on the line. MULTIPLE lives, and he did not have a clue on what to do.

Worry knit her brows as she stared at the frightened Djinn. It was more than obvious he was anxious, terrified and Shaya didn't blame him. So was she. But they had to work together to ensure that her pup arrived unharmed. She smiled sweetly at him. Though it took great effort to mask the pain ripping her limb from limb.

“Stay calm because this next part with be uncomfortable for both of us,” she tried to joke, tried to set him at ease. She needed him calm because she didn't know when she succumb to the torment again. “Lay... lay... the blanket over my k-knees,” she cringed suddenly, bearing down as she rolled forward. Once the contraction stopped, she flopped back. “Lay it over my knees to my hips, then roll it back so the knees down are exposed.”

"I am calm," sniffed the professor, fighting to slow his heartrate and return his tone of voice to a more reassuring tone. It only slightly worked, but at least he could pretend to be fine again. He did as he was instructed, gingerly stretching the cotton across Shaya's body and then rolling it up. He averted his gaze from seeing anything he was not supposed to. Both hands shook as he moved, causing light tingling sounds from the bangles and bracelets on his arms. "Yes, alright. Now what?" An anxious hand reached up and wiped his brow, then did the same for Shaya.

Shaya closed her eyes as Jasper cleaned the sweat from her brow and smiled up at him awkwardly. “Now for the uncomfortable, you'll need to remove everything from the waist down.”

Her professor stiffened. "Nmf..." A dark colour tinted Jasper's cheeks. How was he going to approach this without....

Sigh. This was clearly necessary. Whatever way he approached this, it seemed the professor was not escaping seeing Shaya naked one way or another. He could not simply use nonverbal magic to remove her trousers and undergarments, for that would involve visualizations that he could not stand. Unfortunately, there was little else Jasper could do aside from the 'non-magic' way. Hesitantly, he reached over and, through the sheets, secured his nimble fingers around the waistbands. Shimmying these down and off of Shaya felt like the longest minute. Jasper refused to look at anything; not Shaya, not the sheet, not himself. He stared at the floor until they were around Shaya's ankles, and then demanded a chair take the clothing out of sight.

Jasper's face was beet red. "I refuse to do that again, Miss Shaya, so please do not ask me to put them back on you. Is that sufficient?"

Though pain stricken her features, she laughed at the beet red look of Jasper's face. “You don't....” she began panting again as another contraction wrung through her. Grinding her teeth, she curled forward, pushing as she felt something moving through her lower half, “d-don't have to... p-put them on. B-but y-you'll need to look again to deliver them. You'll need your hands close to receive them.”

Suddenly she screamed, arching off the bed again as the contractions came faster. Over and over they slammed against her like the crashing surf against the rocky shore. She now held the bloodstone so tight that it shattered within her palm into nothing more than sandy grain.

“The first one is coming! You need to check if the head is crowning!”

If Jasper had it in him to swear, he would have.

He stared blankly at his hands for merely a moment, then sighed once again. In that crucial moment all emotion disappeared from his face, shoved to the very corners of his mind. Once again he approached Shaya's legs, scrunched them closed, then peered slowly beneath the blankets. His lips were a hard line, blue eyes cold as steel.

"Crowning?" He spat back at her. He understood vaguely what he was expected to see, but good heavens he was staring at something he really should not be and was not sure what-- Oh. "I-I see something..." His hands secured around Shaya's ankles to steady her, holding too tightly out of panic but doing his best to maintain composure. If he broke composure now he would not be able to go through with this. It was like staring into the sun, trying to shoot glances beneath the blanket. He could steal only shy glances for a few seconds. Hold the fragile piece of dignity, Jasper.... A tiny head was peeking through, from what he could tell. That was good, right? Yes, better than seeing feet. "....Push." It sounded more of a question than a demand.

There was no time for dignity. It went out the window when her water first broke. She no longer saw Jasper as the man she looked up to and respect, but saw him as the man who had to deliver and ensure the lives of her children.

And as another contraction ripped through her, she leaned forward in her effort to push. Her body instinctively bearing down, trying to work the infant from her body until the pain fled and she gasped, leaning back. Panting, tears still rolled down regardless the effort she made to try to be brave. She wanted Cain. She need to hold his hand, she wanted him to be there. But the pups had other ideas that was for sure.

And as another contraction came, she leaned forward again and screamed in her effort as she felt the mass squeezing out between her legs. She continued to bear down, until the pressure suddenly ease.

Panicked, her eyes flew wide. “Jasper, the baby?! What's happening?!”

A slimy, small blob plopped into Jasper's hands as Shaya serenaded its entry into the world, and Jasper quickly snatched another piece of paper and transformed it into another blanket to wrap around the blob. He set to work cleaning the child, and waved a hand at a pair of scissors that sat at his desk. The scissors hopped up, flew over and set to work to cut the umbilical cord, then disappeared.

Jasper took a deep breath. If he did not properly deliver this child, and the child perished, not only would he have let down his student but he would also have set upon himself the wrath of a vampire princess and her deadly vaewolf husband. Possibly, he would ensure the wrath of the whole vampire kingdom as well. The screaming of the newborn was more than music to his ears, and he hoped that was enough of an answer for the new mother. "It is a young boy," he declared softly, brushing a thumb over the small amount of black hair matted to the tiny head with one hand while he wrapped the new blanket across the bundle.

The minutes before the baby cried were the worst Hell that Shaya had ever known. It seemed to draw on for centuries, until finally he began crying. And she choked on her tears, laughing with glee. “He's alive...” she cried while a smile slid from ear to ear.

But her joy was short lived as another contraction began wrapping its claws around her spine, gripping her belly. She screamed again. The pain was worse than before. It was tearing her to shreds from the inside out.

“Cain!!” she wailed in desparation. She needed her mate. He needed to be here or he'd miss on the birth of all his children. “CAIN! DAMN IT, GET YOUR ASS HERE NOW!”

As Cain neared the doors to the LIN room, he could hear the tall tale screams of his precious mate. And she was in pain and beyond pissed. With Rayven whimpering in his arms, he ran faster and as he reached for the door, he heard the faint cries of a baby.

Oh, dear god, no?! He had missed the birth of his children. No!

Throwing the door open, he charged in and ran right for Jasper. “Jasper?! What's happening?” Then he noticed the tiny bundle in his arms and all words fled. His mind went blank as he stared helplessly at the Djinn.

More?! Oh no, Jasper did not have enough hands nor patience for more children. He was about to twist a chair into some sort of makeshift cot when Cain bolted in carrying Rayven. Jasper did not have to ask what had happened; he knew he had been dealing with the source of everyone's pain for the past twenty minutes.

"Congratulations, Mister Cain. Please, hold your son. It seems I have more matters to attend to." He tried his best to be professional and stony in the face of the giant male, but his eyes decieved him and he mirrored the helpless look that was given to him. "The least you can do is put Rayven down and be useful. Being late, of course." The last comment was a jab at Cain, but Jasper did not give himself time to continue it. He turned back to Shaya and tapped her leg reassuringly. Over his shoulder he snided "And do something with this bucket of water. I have not the slightest idea what to do with it."

Then he turned back to the laboured mother. "You are doing well, Miss Shaya. Your husband is here now. Let us just do the same thing as last time, yes? Deep breathing.... push...."

Wakened from his trance, Cain pinned his ears back at Jasper's jab. But he wasn't about to argue. The man had delivered his son safely into this life and was about to deliver another.

“Rayven, I need to attend to momma, I'm putting you down here,” he explained as he rested Rayven against the wall.

The younger wolf weakly smiled and nodded, waving Cain away.

Turning back to Jasper, he bent down and took his son from the Djinn's arm while the infant continued to scream. His tiny wolf ears twitching and his tiny fists shaking while he fused. “The water was to clean the child,” he grunted until Shaya screamed again.

“Would you two knock it off!!!” It was obvious she was in no mood for their sniping.

Her face was nothing more than a mask of the agony she was suffering. All blood drained from her features. And if Cain hadn't seen it himself, he wouldn't believe that a vampire could be as pale as she was now.

Rocking his son, he went to her side and fell to his knees. “Shaya, I'm here now. I'm here.”

“About time...” she wailed as she reached for his hand.

“I'm sorry, but you weren't supposed to have Jasper deliver the pups,” he smirked, trying to tease her while he took her hand in his.

But as another contraction slammed down upon her, he regretted his words as she squeezed his hand for dear life. Every bone within shattered. But Cain remained calm, smiling as sweat dripped down his brow.

Rolling forward again while the pressure built again, Shaya bore down. Her insides felt as if they were on fire. She was exhausted, she wanted to sleep and her eyes grew heavier by the minute.

Jasper was about to snap at Cain to 'clean the child, then' but his mouth was instantly zipped shut by Shaya's roar. He stared at Cain with wide eyes of disbelief, believing wholeheartedly that now both of them were in unbearable pain.

"Shaya? Miss Shaya, stay with us please. You still have another pup to deliver," Under his breath, he muttered, "and hopefully no more." Shaya was strong, that much Jasper knew. But the amount of energy this process was draining from her was scaring Jasper. It was moments like these he was glad to be male.

"Deep breathing, deep breathing... In, in, out, out." Somehow that tidbit of information had been collected from one of the many books Jasper had read. Unfortunately for him, the end of that novel had resulted in a blue-faced child that suffocated, but he held his optimism as tightly as Shaya's hand in Cain's. He assumed his position.

Puffing, trying not to be irritated with the direction, Shaya whimpered as the tears continued to roll down. The exhaustion was overwhelming. Her strength was fading. “I can't... I can't...” she cried.

Slowly she sank back to the bed. She was so tired. She just wanted to sleep now.

“Come on, love,” Cain began panicking, his brow twitching in his fear though he remained smiling. “You can't give up. Our pup needs you to focus. To finish. You can do this. You are the strongest female I know. You can do this.”

Leaning down, not caring that Jasper was there, he kissed her brow.

But Cain could feel her strength waning, she was ready to give up. “Please, sweetie, just one more time.”

Shaya continued to whimper until another contraction came and she shot forward again, screaming in anguish. Using the last of her strength, knowing this was now or never, she bore down harder as the pressure began shifting through her.

Cain winced as her grip tightened again. Thank God, his bones were already shattered or this would be even more painful. “That's right, baby. Keep it up.”

Throwing her head back, she howled as the pressure eased suddenly and Shaya dropped like a lead weight, panting.

“Jasper, the baby? Is the baby here? Is the baby alright?” Cain whimpered, his eyes full of worry.

"For Goodness sake--" growled the professor in return. It was to be expected that husband and wife would ask the exact same question right after Shaya had pushed a small bowling-ball mass out from between her legs. "Yes. " He made a 'tch' sound as he held up the newest pup that had entered the world, squirming about with its eyes scrunched shut. Children were such a handful.

The enchanted tools in the room set to work cleaning things up and tying off loose ends while Jasper dipped the second child in the bucket and brushed it clean. "The perfect nuclear family. It is a girl." As he wrapped up the baby into another paper-transformed blanket, he asked. "Miss Shaya, how are you faring?”

“I'm tired. So tired,” she whimpered, no longer possessing any strength to move. Her eyes grew heavier by the moment and she struggled to maintain consciousness. Wheezing and trying to catch her breath, Shaya just laid there weakly and released Cain's hand.

The fine lines of Cain's face creased with agony as he sat back, starting the attempt to move his shattered digits. As a Vaewolf, he possessed a vampire's ability to heal and little by little, his bones knit together until he was able to move his fingers again.

“Thank you, professor,” Shaya squeaked out as her eyes finally closed in defeat.

Jasper simply looked at the infant in his hands with a weary grimace, then around at his room. The classroom... it was such a mess. Such a mess. He would be working for hours to repair it back to its former glory.

The djinn swallowed a moan and instead replied, "You are welcome, and I am not doing that again." He crumpled into the nearest seat and rested his head back. "You all have earned some rest."

Holding their son still, Cain nodded and looked at his mate, smiling while he brushed her hair from her sweat soaked brow. He had never known he could be so happy. His son in his arms and his daughter in Jasper's.

Rayven pushed himself up and came to Jasper, holding out his arms for the she-wolf pup. He knew the Djinn needed a rest as well, just as much as his momma.

He smiled weakly, “Sister...”

And once he received the she-wolf pup, he turned back to his papa and went to him. Sitting next to him, he nuzzled into Cain while they both watched over Shaya. The pups now exhausted, sleeping within their arms.

“Thank you, professor,” Cain chimed Shaya's sentiment. “You protected my family. I am indebted to you.”

Twins, huh?  My first son was a pain in his delivery, not wanting to come out.  My second son didn't have that trouble four years later.  He just came and that was it!  The delivery crew hadn't even set up their equipment!
