"Shaya, you should be resting," Cain growled for the millionth time since waking up. But his mate busily ignored him as she toweled off her hair.

The blonde haired continued to towel her black haired streaked banges as she rolled her eyes. “Cain, you need to lay off. I know you are worried, but I am just getting extra credit work since I'll be unavailable for a bit into the start of next year.” Once done, she hung the towel off the shower rod as he stared up at her from the toilet he sat on with a closed lid.

He snarled at her. “Yeah, that's because you'll be caring for our young. And as such you'll need to rest now.”

“Cain, I've still have a few weeks before they are due to come,” she walked up to him, poking him in the head. “Plenty of time to do some work with Jasper, and head home to be with mom and dad when these little ones arrive.”

She stroked her belly with one hand, while she reached down with the other and picked up his, and brought it to rest beside hers. “Hold still,” she smiled with a loving glow shining in her eyes.

Cain tilted his head, unsure what she meant until he felt the hard kick jab into his palm. Then the roll of a body as the little ones fought with themselves for comfort. “Oh my dark angel, this is amazing. These are ours?”

His violet eyes had softened as he leaned forward, sniffing her belly. And though he could smell nothing, he put his ear to the squirming mass, trying to listen to their heart beats. Alas because they were natural born Vaewolves, their heart beats were nothing that he had heard before. Like any vampire, their heart beats were slow, almost indiscernible. And it made it difficult for Cain to count how many grew within.

Shaya giggled at her mate's curiosity, but she needed to finish getting ready.

“Now go check on Rayven and make sure he has cleaned his room, and packed to get ready to head home for the break,” she instructed as Cain met her stern gaze.

With a sullen growl, he got up as Shaya stepped back. “Fine.”

Though he may be Alpha of his pack, she his Alpha Mate, when it was just the two of them his little Dark Angel wore the pants for sure. Walking away, Shaya covered her eyes and gasped in surprise as she noticed his bare rear presented at her as he headed for the adjoining door to Rayven's room.

“Cain!” she shrieked between her giggles.

“What?” He turned, gifting her with his full glory.

Blushing and dying in ways a vampiress could not normally, she covered her face. “You can't just walk in on Rayven like that!”

Perplexed he looked down, tilting his head teasingly at her. “Why?”

“You can't walk around naked in front of your son,” her pale cheeks were so rosy that they looked like a couple of ripe cherries for the picking.

“My love, this is the wolf way,” he shrugged bored with her humility.

And before Shaya could argue it further, Rayven burst into the room, just as naked as Cain was.

“Oh for the love of God,” she sagged, cringing in agony. “What am I going to do with you?”

“Momma, momma see Jasper?” Rayven went to her, but Shaya hid behind the bathroom door using it as a barrier between herself and her naked adopted son.

“Yes, momma sees Jasper now, but Rayven and Cain...”

They looked at her confused.

“PUT PANTS ON NOW!!! THIS IS NOT THE PACK!!! THIS IS OTHERWORLD!!!” she roared irritably. “MOVE!!!”

Both wolves yelp and quickly scrambled to find clothes, while Shaya snickered as she closed the door and finished getting cleaned up.

Once done, now wearing a very loose fitting shirt and black tights where her trademarked striped stockings, she went past them as they continued to dress.

With a smile, she waved good-bye and proceeded to head to the LIN department classroom. Dipping into the shadows, she drifted on the current of the Shadow Realm until she emerged from behind the chalk board. There she spotted Jasper busily working away, grading papers as she came out.

“Hey Professor,” she smiled as she came from the shadows.

There were only a few papers on his desk. How disappointing. It was not enough of a stack for the djinn to think it necessary for magical intervention to mark. He did not even blink as his student emerged from the blackboard to greet him - it had occurred too many times to faze him anymore. "Good day, Miss Shaya. And how are we feeling today?" As he spoke, Jasper lifted his hand and sent his quill spiralling back to its well. He turned to regard his pregnant student from above the rim of his glasses.

Shaya smiled sweetly, resting her hands on her belly. Unable to fold them before her anymore. “Tired, but I am doing all right all in all.” Then she noticed the stack of papers on his desk. “Am I interrupting? I can come back.”

Jasper continued to regard his student, but pursed his lips and shrugged himself into a standing position. "Not at all. I am just finishing up some loose ends here and there. Besides, we had agreed to practice some extra credit before you head home to Their Royal Highnesses, yes?"

Even as he spoke this, Jasper was unsure just how fit Shaya would be towards working today. He supposed it was inevitably up to her to decide that, and she had shown up today. Leave it to one of his high-achieving students, of course, to be expecting and still want to address course material.

Shaya beamed, nodding slightly. She always loved this class above all others. “Yes, we did, professor,” she agreed. “Thank you for taking this extra time to allow me to get ahead of things.”

She knew that as a djinn, Jasper couldn't technically say no. And that was why Shaya had grown careful not to make requests of him that he felt obligated to do. To live such a life made her sad to think of. Even her own father was bound to a human who commanded his will. And she hated it.

“I really do appreciate it.”

A dismissive hand brushed off Shaya's affectionate look. But even that had Jasper remember the exchange of power that Shaya had granted him, taking on his responsibility as a Djinn for a brief period of time. No, even if it was in his power to deny his students, he certainly owed a lot to this young vampire.

"There are several textbooks I have selected for you to choose from on the table over there," nodded Professor Kelsey curtly. "Topics varying from Dark Incantations, buffers, and other miscellaneous magics that you have yet to discover. Given that you were the one who wanted to perform some sort of... extra credit... you may sift through those and suggest where we should start."

Nodding with a smile, Shaya held her back as she ambled over the table indicated. She still felt bad for taking up his spare time, but she really needed to do this. Looking over the stacks, she ran her finger lazily over the spines, trying to get a feel for what may be the next course to explore.

Then picking up a particularly large volume, she weighed it her hands. The weight was remarkable as she unsteadily balanced it on one arm. The roughened leather felt coarse again her skin as she began thumbing through the text, reading aloud to herself.

Her mind was a whir with so much information that she was excited to absorb.

She was in paradise until suddenly a slicing pain, twisted through her as she gasped, curling slightly in on herself. Panting in agony, she squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to breath through the pain.

For a couple of weeks she'd been experiencing this pain, and it'd go away quickly before she knew it. All she had to do was ride through the worst of it. Breathing through short wheezes and hisses, she put the book down, leaning against the table with her head bowed.

Jasper had returned his attention to the stack of papers on his desk as Shaya had strut over to the collection of material he had set out for her, but her sudden wincing had the blond instinctively bolt upright. He walked quickly but gingerly to Shaya's side, as if one wrong movement could send her swirling into even more agonizing pain.

He was afraid to touch her. "Miss Shaya...?"

He was afraid to admit what he suspected.

No, she was still a few weeks premature, was she not?

This was normal for some pregnancies... right?

Jasper would not know- he had never had the chance to experience it first or second hand. Much like any of his idiotic students would say, the first thing that wanted to leave Jasper's mouth was 'are you okay?' when he already knew Shaya most certainly was not. But what more could he say?

The professor set to trying to make eye contact with the vampire with evident alarm. "Do you need--?"

Gasping at the sudden pain, Shaya held her belly while the pups within pushed and bucked within. She closed her eyes, trying to will herself through the pain.

At Jasper's voice, she turned. Her brow knit together as she frowned, noting the worry with his eyes. This can't be good if he looked so frightened. Though true to his character he tried not to look panicked.

“No, no, I'm fine,” she puffed, trying to straighten herself only to crumple again as slashing, searing pain lacerated through her navel to her spine.

She collapsed more, steadying her trembling form against the table as she panted in agony.

“I'm fine, I'm fine. I still have weeks to go,” she tried to reassure... But who? Who was she trying to reassure? Jasper or herself? “I'll be okay, I just need a minute and the pain will go away like before.”

Beads of blood sweat began to trickle down the curve of her pale cheek, leaving a trail of red as she tried to work through the pain. Soon the pain began to wane and she smiled with relief, grasping her back as she began to right herself again.

“See, it's just braxton hicks contractions,” she explained.

Or so she thought until a hot gush flooded from between her legs, splashing on the floor at their feet. Instantly Shaya screamed as she arched backwards, her body on fire as pain electrified every inch of her. Her legs shook, no longer able to find the strength to keep herself upright, as she fell forward, grasping Jasper's shoulders.

This was beyond Jasper's scope of expertise, and he was painfully aware of it in this moment. He did not know, he did not know, he did not know. And how did normal pregnancy compare to that of vampires? Werewolves? It was reassuring, however, when Shaya seemed to calm down. As the young woman's shoulders relaxed and she began to right herself, so too did the professor. The storm has passed thought Jasper to himself while he summoned a chair to seat Shaya in. He took a deep breath to calm his own nerves and, for a moment at least, the storm had passed.

It was short-lived.

The splashing of liquid onto Jasper's classroom floor had him freeze in utter horror. In just one second two thoughts crossed his mind simultaneously. The first of which was MY FLOOR! The second thought being It is happening. Had Shaya's arms not clawed at Jasper's shoulders he would have been frozen in place for far too long. "Shaya!" He shouted, supporting her elbows and ushering her to sit in the chair he had brought forward. The floor would have to wait, regretfully. Jasper needed to know what was going on, and he needed to know now. Greek words flew from his mouth in a frenzy."Synkrínete vivlía edó, TORA." Books from across the room zipped through the air in response. "Enkymosýni kai toketós!" Most of the books instantly stilled and dropped to the floor like limp flies, but now there were about three hardcover novels flaring their pages at Jasper. "I know nothing of Braxton Hicks Contractions, Miss Shaya, but I believe you were wrong." His voice rumbled darkly in her ear. "What do you need?”

Panting, she grit her teeth while another wave of searing pain ripped up her spine. She arched back, howling as grasped the small of her back with one hand and her belly with the other. Breathing deeper, she tried to focus but her mind was a blank slate.

It was obvious Jasper was having a bit of a panic.

Why now? Why couldn't they wait?

“I-I need...” she ground her teeth, curling over herself while she spoke, “... to lie down. I need to lie down.” Gasping again as another wave tore through her, her thoughts scattered for a moment. “B-blankets... we need blankets...” Tears collected in her tears, her bottom trembled. “Warm water....”

And as another wave came again, she grasped the table tightly. Her nails scoring the pristine table top, leaving deep gouges. She could no longer think beyond the pain riding her to the ground. And as each blade of pain stabbed over and over into her spine, her grip tightened more and more until her fingers went through the three inch oak wood, tearing off a large piece.

He wasted no time. Words of various languages spewed from his lips, bending the chair beneath Shaya into a wooden bed. More rushed incantations stretched book pages into cotton sheets that draped the floor, but Jasper was not finished and so there they stayed.

Warm water, now that one would be tricky. He was no Elementalist, and so that would have to be obtained the mundane way. But... that would entail leaving Shaya on her own. Jasper did not think that the wisest idea just yet.

But what else could he do?

He had absolutely no idea what to do, and for once was relying blindly on his student.

Could he numb this pain? The djinn could not muster up the focus to read the books he had summoned, much less to throw together a spell to help Shaya without potentially harming the children inside of her. His nerves were shot, and he jumped with each wave of agony that slithered from Shaya's mouth.

"Okay, okay..." He muttered to himself in feathery breaths. When Shaya broke the table, Jasper's voice grew louder and his decisions more firm. "Okay." The water could wait. "You need a numbing agent immediately."

Withering in pain, her heels dragged against the bed as she moved her legs to and fro, trying to find some way to get comfortable. She grasped her belly, gritting her teeth as she suddenly bore down, curling up into a seated position.

Tears began to stream down the curve of her face as another contraction ripped from her. She could feel pressure building between her legs, and she began sobbing. “I want Cain. He needs to be here for this. I need Cain to be here for their births.”

She couldn't stop sobbing while she gripped the edges of the bed. The sound of yielding wood growing louder the tighter her grip became. Shaya hated showing her tears in front of Jasper. She seldom cried in front of anyone but her mate. But she was scared. And her body was fighting against her at every turn.

“I'm scare, Jasper, I'm scare,” she sobbed, bearing her fangs. “I want Cain and Rayven.”

Jasper did not realize how tightly his teeth were pressed together until a sharp headache sprouted in his temples. "Do not be afraid, Shaya. You are... you are fine," lied the professor. He walked stiffly over to her and brushed the vampiress's matted, sweaty hair out of her face. "I will summon your loved ones for you, but I need you to repeat a mantra for me while I do so. It should help with your pain. Can you do that for me?" The last half of what he said seemed to soften to a point that was a stranger to him. It even gave him pause. It only lasted a moment, however, before he yanked one of Shaya's bloodstones from his desk and pressed it in her grip. "Repeat a Hindi mantra for me, and then say it backwards." Nervously he traced a circle with his hand as he spoke, rotating his wrist. "Over and over and over."

Jasper gave Shaya one more look and then turned to his Blood Altar. Summoning two werewolves in a time crunch... now that would be a challenge.
