i would never spank a child, and if i had kids of my own, i wouldn't spank them, i would just tell them what they're doing isn't right is wrong, if i were to give them a warning that i would spank them: I WOULDN'T ACTUALLY DO IT, ITS JUST A DAMN WARNING!
in all honesty, i think spanking is just an excuse to let the parent let their anger out on their child.

What does spanking solve, it solves the fact that you did something wrong that deserves a spanking. For examples, breaking stuff, back talking, being a shithead, ect. Spanking has no proof of creating emotional hurting. I mean, look at me. I was spanked by my dad many of times for doing stupid stuff, and I turned out great.Β
From what you have told from your perspective, it sounds like two thing. One, your dad might be an abusive father. Because a parent typically doesn't spank a child for no reason or to "give you a reason to be pissed at me." Or two, you're making this up for the fact that you're a spoiled child thats doesn't understands the concept of punishment.
Either way, spanking is a physical punishment that interacts the child not to do that again. Because one of two hits across the ass with a belt, fly swatter, switch, or hand is enough to straighten a child. But there is a difference from that and walking up to your child and push, punch, kick, or smack out ofΒ nowhere.

I don't respect my dad for the exact opposite reason. He couldn't raise me right so he had to resort to violence. That is weak. Raising a child requires tough love, but not violence. If you have to resort to violence, it shows that you can't be bothered to teach.
