There are two points I can take the story from here. One of them is short and brings the story to a conclusion in fewer parts. The other starts off a whole new chain of events based on the person who killed Jinny.

Well when they ended up together the story tells us that they foraged and survived off the land (specifically she hunted). I would think she'd have some moderate skill in tying knots among other things.
