Chapter 33: Protestants Reformers and the Protestant Pope and Catholic Counter Reformation
The Protestant Huguenot who had fled from France into Exile, like the Protestant United Provinces Netherlands, Savoy, or the German States had not yet been defeated and when the Avignon Papacy created an independent Gallic/ Gaul Church that persecuted the Protestant Hugenottes and members of the House of Guise, lost more and more land to the dominance of the Hapsburg and Spanish rule in Europe, many changed their minds out of necessity. Like the Protestant Irish and Scottish opposing the English Roman Catholic and their Inquisition now forming the Protestant Celtic Church together in the independence fight of their Lords, the German Lutheran Protestants and the Gallic Avignon Church came together as well, especially as Calvinists and Reformist joined sides as the Avignon Papacy made some more liberal reforms to rally the rest of Christian Catholic Europe outside of Spanish-Habsburg rule behind their banner as a unified Avignon-French Protestant Movement. The support they gained from the German Lutherans was massive and together Hugenots and Protestant Netherlands and Savoy Forces triumphed about the new (Second) Catholic League in France supported by parts of the French Nobility. Under French Kings Francis I, Francis II, Henry (Henry) III and Henry IV (Henry of Navarre) Protestant France would become the Patron of the Protestant World in Europe and even back some oversees Hugenotte and other Exiled Protestant Colonies whenever possible, while fighting the surround by Huguenot Hapsburg with all Protestant political, separatist and religious movements that emerged. Close to one another and bitter rivals, the Protestant Convention of Paris (the Paris Protestant Mess) quickly incorporated Proto-Protestant/ Pre-Protestant Movements, like the Oldcastle Revolt of the Lollards, as well as the Hussites of the Bohemian Wars/ Hussite Wars in opposition to Catholic Rule on England, the Holy Roman Empire and the Rest of Europe. The Huguenot became a majorly dominant Protestant Influential group in the Gallic Church and the French Kingdom, to which many returned. Still Catholic resistance in parts of France, especially the Catholic League strongholds remained for quit some time.
As a result the Avignon Papacy and the French tried to ally with the Ottoman Muslim Turlks, as well as the Russian Orthodox Empire to the East against the Spanish Hapsburg Empire, the Roman Catholic Papacy and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The English Catholics cracked down hard on Irish and Scottish Protestant Religious and National Independence Movement originating in the Presbyterian Church of Scotland, while being backed by Rome, were the Papacy now fully supported all former English Claims on Excommunicated France. The Presbyterian Church of Scottland soon joined the Calvinist Welsh and the Calvinist influence in the Church of Ireland alongside Reformist elements fused both into the Protestant Celtic Church, or the Northwestern Protestant Church, which would be heavily supported by the Western Protestant Church, the Gallic Church of France/ Avignon Papacy against the English. Meanwhile the German mainly Lutheran Protestants, also known as Eastern protestants (including the Teuton Order) were also heavily supported by the Nordic Protestant/ Norse Protestants of Denmark-Norway and Sweden. British/ Protestants/ English Protestants opposing the return of the Catholic Church and the more despotic Spanish-Habsburg aligned rule and inquisition meanwhile had a hard stance and many fled to Scotland, Ireland and Wales instead. There their resistance hardened and later lead to the Spanish-Habsburg Armada sending supplies to he English Roman Catholics against the Flamish-Holland Protestants Armada trying to aid the Scots, Irish, Welsh and English Protestants to retake the isles. When the German Protestants of the Leagues of Cognac, Torgau and Smalkaldic united to the Protestant League the Forty Years War was a result in which the Holy Spanish Empire Hapsburg Monarchy, it’s ally Bavaria and the Holy Catholic League face of against secession and opposition movements from Saxony, Brandenburg, Hesse-Kassel, the League of Protestants, Palatinate, parts of the Kingdom of Bohemia, Prussia, the Dutch Republic, as well as foreign allies of the Protestants (mainly the French in West Germany and North Italy, Denmark-Norway, Swedish in North Germany), as well as the Ottomans (in Hungary, Naples and North Africa), Savoy (in Italy), Genoa (Corsica and Sardinia), Poland-Lithuania (Lithuania alongside the Teutonic Knights and Brandenburg against the Polish).
A war against European control and domination by the Spanish-Habsburg under Emperor Charles V, the Catholic-Protestant Wars, or Wars of Religion cemented the Avignon-Rome and Protestant-Catholic Split for good and the Five major European Powers, the Spanish-Habsburg, the French, the Polish-Lithuanians, Denmark-Norway and the Swedish Empire had been most affected by the Protestant Movement, Reformations and Revolutions, but even the English, the Rus/ Russian Empire and the Ottoman/ Turkish Empire were not unaffected by it either. When the Teutonic Knights became Protestants in opposition to Catholic Poland, the Lithuanians in parts soon followed to oppose Polish Domination in the Polish-Lithuanian Empire, which slowly ripped it apart in the Polish-Lithuanian Catholic-Protestant Wars. Meanwhile in the Baltic's the change of the Teutonic Order Protestants lead to a rift and split with the Riga and Livonion Catholic Bishops and the Catholic Livonian Order, creating two rivaling Baltic Crusader States as a result. Wars between both groups raged on as regional conflicts, especially in Bohemia-Hungary were Protestant Hugenottes and Hungarians tried to oppose Austrian hegemony and rule over them, as well as in Helvetia, were the Swiss-Helvetian Confederates sided with the French Protestants against the Austrians, similar to the Flandrian-Holland Protestant Republicans further North in the Spanish Netherlands. This way Central, West and Northwest German regions within the Holy Roman Empire also became Battlefields of the Catholic-Protestant Wars, with the German Princes and Kings divided between Protestant French Avignon Papacy and Catholic Austrian-Spanish Habsburg/ Hapsburg Papacy. As a result of this Russia managed to conquer parts of Nova Russia (New Russia) from the Lithuanians on his quest to the Black Sea, while the Swedish Empire would soon ally with the Teutonic Knights and take over Livonia as their Baltic holding. his major European changes and conflicts prevented the Spanish from expanding their Empire in the Milky Way Galaxy to much and instead forced them to use much of their resources and the Spanish Lances (Lanza Espanola) of elite Staff Weapon wielding Jaffa in Europe instead.
