One of the main reasons the Harch Admiral Trench never became Supreme Commander of the Separatists after the death of General Grievous, but instead Atticus Farstar would get the title was partly because of the human-centrist speciescism in the late Republic/ early Empire, Count Dooku wanted to represent that good humans and non-humans still worked together for the greater good, at least on the just side in this Clone Wars. Another major reason simply was because he favored superior, modern and massive ships, while many in the Separatist Council and Conglomerates, now at the turning point of the Clone Wars preferred lest Credit-expensive designs, droid- and ship-building costs, by simply reusing and combining old, outdated designs (creating so called Uglies). This included the Hoersch-Kessel Drive, Inc. and Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps designed combinations between the older Banking Clan Frigates, Providence-class carrier/destroyers and the Recusant-class destroyers, as well as the Recusant Class Medium Destroyer, Recusant Class Heavy Destroyer and later Recusant Class II classes build within these ship types and classes themselves. While many of this ships reflected the Separatist need for a more modernized design of the Confederate Navy, the Recusant II Class Heavy Destroyer had a more heavier armored hull, modeled after the Recusant Class Medium Destroyer, Recusant Class Heavy Destroyer that came before him and also gave additional strength to the engines by connecting them over a secondary bridge. Some of this double-bridges, especially on flagships were later connected to a more massive bridge, for additional crew, or even some hangars to allow for additional droid fighters, bombers or landing ships altogether. It’s additional hull was complimented by additional weapon placements and an advanced droid brain to assist the crew during battles. With only 15 build until the Battle of Coruscant in the last days of the Clone Wars, they would see action during the Liberation of the Rim, or the Separatist Rim Counter Offensive, proving their worth in many battles.

With frontal Turbolaser cannons, 31 medium turbolaser turrets and 10 laser cannons for point defense they were heavily armed and even the normal standard variants without hangars had at least twenty docking sides for droid fighters on their sides to assist them against enemy fighters and bombers during battles alongside it’s own droid starfighters. Like many Separatists ships their shields and weapons were original modified civil, or conglomerate types, not on pair with the more heavy, military-grade types of the Republic/ Empire later on, but would be upgraded over the course of the Clone Wars. Alongside other ships in a task-force, or small fleet they would provide fire support from a safe distance with their long range canons, to out-range enemy ships whenever possible and were this way even devastating against enemy capital ships. In the droid rebellion and uprising, their by now hundreds of ships would prove efficient once more, as they had been maintained in shipyards, and few had been crewed with battle droids during the time of their attacks, laving many of them to be crewed by organic ship crews that were well trained on the Recusant I Light, Medium and Heavy variants and veterans of the Clone Wars during which the Separatist Alliance, the Confederacy of Independent Systems had managed to gain it’s independence. Because of this the Recusant II would become one of the main ships of the Confederate Navy to lead the defense against rebelling and uprising droid forces and ships, or whole fleets overtaken by battle, repair, maintenance and labor droids alike. During this skirmishes and battles it became quickly clear that the droid brain aboard this ships was often not infected and could continue assisting the organic crew in military analysis, as it had never been build to operate on it’s own without an organic or droid crew to man the ship and navigate it, unlike some of the by now more outdated, older droid captured ships that often had inferior armor, shields and weapons, leading to them being much easier defeated by the superior, more modern Recusant and other Confederate Navy classes. The fact that the Confederate Conglomerates had believed it to be a waste to use these more modern ships in active operations with droid crews against mere smugglers, pirates and Imperial remnants because of the cost had often saved them in the end, as it meant the more modern Confederate spaceships remained untouched and unused by uprising and rebelling droid forces in most of the galaxy.

For hangar variants would have two squadrons of droid starfighters of the Droid tri-fighter and Vulture-class droid starfighter each, meaning 12 each for a total of 72, as well as one C-9979 or C-9980 landing craft per hangar (six in total), despite not mainly being a carrier, but a Destroyer, who thanks to it's capabilities could also be a cruiser or battleship if it would get rid of it's cargo capacities and additional civil trade and transport roles completely.
