Description Quail. Another neighborhood shot.

Has let me know that this looks like the California Quail (Callipepla californica), the state bird.

That is fun for me because that would mean it is my state bird!! Thanks dkbarto!

Great photo! I am an artist and I was wondering if you would give me permission to use your photo as a reference in a painting. I would give you credit for it. My website is ppendergast.com. Thanks, Patty

I have been away from deviant art. I would be honored to have you use my image and would love to see it when you are finished. Sorry for the many month delay!

Thank you for letting me use your photo. I understand not being on deviant all the time. I'm very busy this time of year, but I'm hoping to start on the quail painting next year. I will let you know and certainly let you see it. Thanks, Patty

right on, it is so difficult to capture a quail because they are fast runner.

So /that's/ what a quail looks like. I've never seen one. They're cute.

This is a quite a nice photo', too. I think I'd have preferred to see it more from the front, but since you've managed to get the face in, this isn't a bad angle either.
Its face also looks slightly blurry - it might just be due to resizing. A bit of sharpening should sort it out.
It's a shame there's that rusty thing just behind the bird, but there's nothing you could have done about that.
And the bird is too centred. I suggest cropping the image so that it's closer to the left border.

However, these are just nitpicks, 'cause I'm like that. The image overall is good, which is helped by the subtle colours in the background. So kudos to you.

The quality is great in this one. And the shapes that the bird makes it perfect. You got it from the best angle.

Thank you. The owner of the property came out as I was shooting, a bit curious as to why I was there. I told him I was shooting quail (badabooomp :drum: ) and he said they had hundreds. Needless to say..I will be going back.

The same thing happened to me. I was shooting a water scene in someone's backyard. And the owner came out. It was a little scary lol.

Well cant wait to see more
