This is a newer image of Speed Racer's mom, from typical parental homebody to well-known scientist.

Dr. Racer: Head of Racer Research, wife of "Pops" Racer and mother of Rex and Speed. She is a beautiful, intelligent, well-meaning, all-things-equal kind of woman. As a scientist, her technical skills allow her to create sophisticated safety systems such as ones equipped to the Mach series racing cars. Even though she is always very busy in her lab, she is always there for her family. As a parent, like Pops, she is strictly cautious of car handling and is overprotective of her sons, but supports them out of the goodness of her heart.

Difference from the original series and other adaptions:

In almost every adaption of the Speed Racer series, Speed's mother is portrayed as both loving housewife and encouraging parental figure, having limited dialogs and acts as the voice of reason. In my version however, she gets a bigger role as a doctor of science, working in her own laboratory: Racer Research.
