Description
I've been selling my artwork at a local farmers market, and one of the other vendors there is super nice. He runs a stand selling homemade salsa and chips, and there have been multiple days where at the end of the market, he'd give us and the other vendors some of the salsa and chips that didn't sell. Not only that, but he commisioned a piece from me, as well as gave me a graphic design opportunity. Overall, I was just impressed by the level of generosity and kindness he's shown to me and all the other people at the market. Since I've been naming my artwork various positive attributes, I knew that the painting I made for him had to be titled generosity. He apparently collects paintings and other artwork based around the theme of the Cascadia flag, so that's what he commissioned me to do. The flag is for the Cascadia mountain range that runs through Washington. The colors are blue, white, and green (think seahawks colors,) and the flag has a douglas fir tree directly in the center. I took a trip up to Mount Rainier national park and took pictures of various points in the Cascades. I actually had a picture with a douglas fir tree in the center with the mountains behind, but unfortunately, the picture had a parking lot in the foreground. I liked this picture that I took because of the beautiful wildflowers in the field with the mountains and clouds behind. I was originally going to add the douglas fir tree in from my other picture with the parking lot, but decided that the painting would look better without it there.
The medium is acrylics on canvas 11" x 14" and the location is Sunrise Point in Mt. Rainier national park.
