Description
Sorry. Too lazy to come up with a good title for this one.So this semester, I'm in two different art classes at school. One is a painting class and the other is a drawing two class. This was my first assignment in drawing two. I spent a little less than a month on this working during normal class hours and such. The whole point of this particular project was to find a part in the school where architectural lines created a focal point and then to make the focal point stand out more by gradually adding more color by changing mediums as it approached the focal point.
So the first thing I had to do was to find a spot to draw. Most people just found a spot in the hallways and drew lockers and had like a fire hydrant or a door as a focal point. I wanted something a bit more interesting. So I discovered this spot that's up a different set of stairs that leads to an upstairs gym. At the top of those stairs is a window that overlooks the commons and has a great view of the main stairwell. Pretty much every line pointed nicely to the base of the stairs.
So almost every day during fifth period for the next month I had to wander back up those stairs and continue to work on this. Then the art teacher basically handed us colored pencils and said "Good Luck" and so I kind of had to self teach myself how to do realism with colored pencil. She did the same thing with the water colors in the center.
All in all, I think I did pretty good. I was happy with the results. I was so happy when I finished because it meant that I could finally post it! But then my art teacher hung it on her wall.... So I finally just brought in a camera to school and took a photo of it.
Done with graphite, prisma colored pencil, and water colors.

I think it's a great piece, although I'm not sure I'd lable that part the focal point...*scratches head* Not sure where I would, though. always been bad at those.
