Description
Inktober day 19: landscapeI was going to paint a default horizontal canvas landscape when I suddenly saw we had big chunks of salt at home. I'm glad I did this unusual dreamy sky and autumn trees without leaves.
I used:
This is right now featured on Art Amino's front page and I'm super flattered
This is my entry for watercolorists 's AquaChallenge Salty challenge. The journal:
AquaChallenge: SALTYHello watercolorists !
It's been so long promised ...now it's time
To cook, to eat salty snacks? No!
We will be using salt...but for painting.
In watercolors you can use lots of different materials like plastic, paper tissue and everyday items like water and you guessed it...SALT to make awesome textures.
For the salt technique in watercolor paintings you can use regular kitchen salt, sea salt or the special one made for watercolors from an art supply store.
See some examples of great use of the salt technique:

Just beautiful! I was surprised to see "salt" in your "use" list, so I looked it up. I had no idea watercolor artists use salt for texture like that. Your background does seem to have some texture.
Love how the colors collide together!

Thank you very much!
The trees kind of cover the texture. Salt creates beautiful flower-like unpredictable patterns.

Oh my this is so pretty! I love the harsh color change between the dark and light colors and the addition of the salt gave a really pretty effect! This is super cool

Красиво! Сонце сідає, заливаючи все своїм заревом. Мені подобається! Я також спробую зробити щось з використанням солі.

Aaw thank you very much!
Yes, but I only use Art Amino. It's an awesome art community.
I love when people ask me questions about art! The salt is for the texture that looks like snowy magic flowers or halos with edges
you put salt on top of the wet paint and it creates these beautiful effects.
