Description A 'fan commission' for ~Horn-Adama

Two rangers. An Elemental powered armor with sword drawn, and a specops soldier with battle rifle leveled. They have each others backs , ready for the swarm that is about to fall on them.

Thanks to everyone that watched in the streams, keeping me company and providing valuable critiques. And another thanks to Horn for the commission, without it this nice piece of work wouldn't have happened.

Fluff - The Shield Sword is a basic shield based weapon that was devised during the early testing of the mysterious new technology. It allowed the test deployment of shields in a simple device that could be used without implants.
No longer commonly used due to the restriction of shield material and advancement of dynamic internal battle armor shields. It is now only seen ceremonially or among a select few who have stuck to it's use, it still retains it's diversity as an easily deployed utility weapon. It can form a heat blade, defensive bubble or wall, and counter frequency fields and paths to better penetrate projectiles, or any other specialized form that is programmed in.

I was just wondering what the white helmets are for. Do they signify rank or something?

You could say that, more that the higher ranked you are the more freedom you have to modify your gear.

question about ur lineart, do u do it before or after the painting?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shimmering-Sword In reply to KingofUndrock [2012-02-16 04:19:10 +0000 UTC]

After/during. The lines are part of the painting (not their own layer). Especially now, I only use them where I want to easily enhance separations/crevices, "lineart" is not a fixed part of my process, getting caught up on lineart is something I avoid.

look up Appleseed by Shirow Masamune
Briareos Hecatonchires and Deunan Knute

[link]

the similarities are striking, as is the "as one" title - a theme throughout the books, that they had to fight as one, strength speed and precision all working in synch, creating a true combat synergy

I know the characters quite well, but you still haven't listed anything that makes them similar. At any rate, it's not a take on them if that's what you want to be sure of.

Be careful how you word things on the internet, because I don't think you're typing what you really mean. To say "entire" means that every detail is a match, essentially a cut and paste job. Aside from some common details found on many mecha designs, well, it isn't the same.

and the others normal troops or are they all equal

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shimmering-Sword In reply to anispasiapoke [2011-04-27 20:22:01 +0000 UTC]

Both the soldiers in this shot are elite but the one with fins is far more powerful. The Specops is highest class of infantry without power armor, while the Elemental is the most powerful powered armor class, and often the most powerful combatant on the field.

Shimmering-Sword In reply to The-5 [2011-03-28 00:46:24 +0000 UTC]

I'm always looking out for interesting details in modern military, for their armor and infantry. I also keep up on some scifi stuff, but I don't have any major specific inspirations. I had a few original inspirations for the helmets and armor, but I think I've evolved away from them so much now that they aren't worth mentioning
