Description
I get bugged a lot to paint up a locust so I whipped this up. Kind of hard to maintain the unseen look when adding hips, but I like my torso twistingLocust, 20 ton light mech, LCT-5T variant.
Weapons:
1 Extended Range Medium Laser
6 Light Machine Guns in 2 Arrays

Nicely done! A great replacement of the unseen.

This is sick, the detail on the cockpit and the pose just looks great.

And when you take into consideration that this is one of the smallest mechs in the lore, and then see how small the cockpit is in comparison, you begin to get a feel for just how massive these things really are...

My god, you actually made the locust look threatening! I didn't think it was possible.

Thanks. What do you think of the MWO version? It's quite a bit more complex than mine.

Finally got to reading my messages!Β The MWO Locust is a different kind of beast.Β The smaller guns are a bit more realistic, and it's nose mounted turret reminds me of real life attack helicopters.Β I prefer your design though,Β those rotating machine guns are scary looking.

I have no idea why everyone thinks the locust is ugly.. I love it!!! Great rendition man, and the 6xmg as rotary cannons makes it all the more delightful.

I think it all comes down to when you were born and what shows you grew up on. The new kids only know their Halos. Glad you like it.

I dunno man, I think its also a matter of 'genetic' taste. One does not need to be exposed to something familiar for it to have an effect on their senses, like the locust did to me when I saw it for the first time. I just knew in my gut that I just loved the aesthetic of it, and the name fit it perfectly I almost saw it as a coolified ATST in some way, if you can see what I'm seeing

Hmm maybe. Though I'm sure you've encountered the "looks like halo" species. As if their exposure to scifi is limited to the most recent and popular, and from there are not capable of relating outside those properties. It's become the house joke among all my art friends, all critiques start with "looks like halo"

OH, story of our lives! Tell me about it Doesn't matter for me though, enough people (by enough i mean more than the angryhalonerds numbers) know what halo borrowed from and even if they don't, seem to be able to appreciate something for what it is regardless of how trendy it is perceived to be. Often times they reward themselves by doing a little research and find out more than what they bargained for
So i'm 8/10 times fine with it... haha

Have never understood the appeal of this mech....then again the mechs I usually use usually have armor that can almost match this mechs complete tonnage 1 to 1

You managed to take one of the ugliest 'mechs in the franchise and make it look good, while at the same time keeping true to the original while redesigning it away from the Crusher Joe rip-off (I know fasa bought the rights to use it, but still).
Bravo.

I was one of those buggers.
This looks way better then the official re-seen crap.
Even better then the unseen version.

6 light MGs? That sounds like it could REALLY tear things up in close range!
Good job btw.

I'd hate to be an infantryman going up against this thing, those chain-guns are just as intimidating enough let alone the laser lol.
a grate mech though and the effects are sweet

Eh I always just figured the locust torso twist was just turning the torso mounted laser since it looks like an underslung turret.
Pretty good take given the original material. Unseen locust is hideous.

My first thought on seeing it "omg chicken walker!" before laughing. Just don't deploy it in large forests where rolling logs or swinging logs can get them~

It's marked with the Free Rasalhague Republic's insigne. In the Battletech fluff/canon their military is called the "KΓΌngsarmee" or something like that.
Also lasers and machine guns are both firing in this picture hence the second part of my statement.

Ah yep, KungsArme it seems, though they can also go by the much more understandable "Royal Rasalhague Army".

True, but I always thought the Swedish-esque name was cooler. Like, by 20%.
