One more commission for Contact down, yet another design taken from an old sketch of mine.
Laser, smoke, grenade launcher, smg, knife

i think the knife would work better if it were mounted to the torso or a leg, someplace where either arm could access it

Doesn't have to be super sturdy if it's just a small bot. Still more resilient than a human.

True enough, but he's also a bigger target. Someone designed for medium fire support as he seems to be outfitted for is gonna draw a lot of fire, though. Armor should be a focus.

Armor is a philosophy, this robot is built around mobility (like a human) and delivering the firepower of several soldiers simultaneously with precision. Realistically it's not very hard to penetrate armor, infantry are capable of carrying anti tank weapons, and even modern rifles are now capable of using munitions which can penetrate light armored vehicles. A small bot like this is not capable of carrying enough armor to withstand penetration before it would be slowed down enough to be vulnerable to the next grade of anti armor weapons.
Basically, this bot doesn't need heavy armor, because it will be avoiding weapons fire that it is vulnerable to.

I understand what you're saying, but again, for someone whose supposed to be purposed for supporting fire, it would help to be able to resist glancing shots.

It can, the only shots that are going to take it down are hits to it's computer or power source, or several to it's locomotion. Glancing shots are just that, minor.

This one is kind of creepy- the other drone is cuter. Did you model the SMG off of the Calico line of SMGs? That helical magazine really resembles a Calico weapon.

The game has a few weapons with helical magazines, I didn't design them but the Calico influence is pretty clear.

Now, would these guys replace human infantry in the military, or are they like "support" for the human soldiers?

They might operate in small squads without human infantry, but are too expensive to be a full replacement. Probably a unit only the most well equipped forces can deploy.

I'm seeing a lot of inspiration from Ghost in the Shell. Vague images cross My mind from an episode where Batou and some chick where checking out an illegal mining complex, and when discovered, where chased by hazard suits looking very much like this.
