I really like this type of art. It has a traditional "90s" feel mixed with a new age comic book feel that shakes hands with anime's obscure yet cool style. The colors are nicely combined to give the overall drawing a distant fantasy/uban sort of day dream feel that mixes with all sorts atmospheres, (well, to me anyway). It reminds me of Studio 4Β°C's "Amazing Nuts!" works, meets Marvel Comics and Konami's "Contra".
I love the purple and orange (which are my two favorite colors). The color orange creates a sort of surreal intensity of movement in the atmosphere while the purple sets these guys in a distant eerie-spiritual type of mystical feel. (Hey,...I'm not so good with words, but, I know what I see when I see it.) The ground has a nice detail to it that provides a nice contrast. This piece has more depth to it than others may realize. You really did a good job of distinguishing the ground, characters, and sky, in their own area. Nice job!

i want to start this one off by saying it looks really, really finished, i dig that. sometimes i feel that your work could be so much stronger if it was just tightened up a little.
so on to everything else. i really love the palette you've used here as well, the purples and oranges really go good together. i really think more of the orange lighting could have helped ground this image though, especially on the crates in the background. as a sort of secondary lighting of course, maybe rimlighting on the characters to separate them better from the dark crates.
i dig the use of texture on the ground as well, it helps add some subtle detail to the image. and really the only other thing i had to mention about the image besides some secondary lighting would be that i think it needs more shadow under the characters to help solidify them to that ground. same thing i suppose with some of the crates.
so yeah, thats about it. you can really tell you're doing that push yourself hard thing, i'm loving your new pieces each new one more than the last e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="

Hey, critique?
I'd sling in some bloom rendering, unless it ain't your style.

I need to play with that some time, most of my work is very lacking in the highlights department.

I think you should also put that much detail in your work. To me it seems much more detailed.

Thanks for the praises man.
I went about this one a slight differently than my usual, and the subjects lent to clean work. I think as I go through these commissions all my work will show the same improvement. Also, my texture overlays worked flawlessly on this one.
