Description Terror from the Deep hit shelves recently, an expansion book to the Contact RPG which as you might guess focuses on marine operations.
This is the 4th book to be published for Contact, unfortunately for now they're still only published in German. It's been hinted at a lot but some day there should be an English release, I just have no idea when.

Here's the cover to start things off. I'll be posting some of my favorite pieces over a few days.
Shown are Triton operatives in high tech submersible power armor, about to assault an alien mothership. When things get wet, trade your rocket launcher in for a supercavitating torpedo launcher, sure to ruin someone's day.

Is honestly earned.
Did you think about Clan Goliath Scorpion too? They developed, what later evolved into the Elemenal Super Infantry battle armor, if i remember correctly...

Haha, not at all. Besides this is the opposite process, land based armor adapted for sea, rather than deep sea suits adapted for land.

I didnΒ΄t knew that. Only saw the suits in the water, and instantly thought about the Elementals developement.

It's hard to take a sprite based game and go full 3D while maintaining the look.

I was mostly talking about small maps that look alike, one base, 6 troopers limit instead of 24, lack of normal interception, small research tree. And very low difficulty compared to original(people are finishing it on ironman/impossible damn it). I've meant gameplay, sorry.

The light's look very nice, and you did a good job on the underwater look. I like this peace.

It's pretty tricky to balance realistic under water atmosphere with appealing contrast. I found a decent balance here at least.

I think you did a great job on this peace. Now I feel the need to watch one of your livestreams.

Oh man X-Com Flashbacks.Β

Never heard of this Contact thing, probably due to it being German. Whats the premise, exactly? Like, lore wise, I suppose.

It's very much like X-Com. A somewhat near future of cyber cities and small proxy wars, where corporations hold power over most things. Aliens are invading from space (and now the sea) and it's the job of your corporate funded special forces outfit toΒ defend earthΒ and keep things in the shadows.

Well that'd explain the flashbacks XD. Still, love this design here, although it would suck to be the guy responsible for maintaining that power armor...Β

You should make them in a mission briefing and a tentacle grabs one of the guys when nobody is looking. x3

I think there are some pre written campaigns/mission in the book that involve your base being infiltrated

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Lt-Havoc [2013-08-07 05:20:29 +0000 UTC]

I belive the core book goes for 50 euros while this expansion is 30. There are 2 smaller expansions but they're in grayscale only with very few illustrations. The big color ones are stuffed full of my art, though not quite my usual style any more.

Lt-Havoc In reply to Shimmering-Sword [2013-08-07 05:36:21 +0000 UTC]

50 Euros? Thats a lot for such a book but oh well.Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Shimmering-Sword In reply to Lt-Havoc [2013-08-07 05:44:12 +0000 UTC]

I thought that was about standard for an RPG core book. 300 pages, full color, hard cover. This 30 euro expansion is 128 pages, also full color and hard cover.

I'm planning my own art book which should go for around $40, somewhere around 100 pages. You might want to wait for that if you want more art and no game that you don't plan on playing.
