Description
This was a lot of fun. I deviated significantly from my conventional methods; with this pic, I actually did all the final line work in Photoshop, using the pen tool, and it worked a heck of a lot better than I expected it would! I wish I'd tried this before, to be honest!Boo, I am pretty happy with. I ended up deviating a little from my original concept, after I struggled with the transformation diagrams. She's the nicer of the two bot sisters, and I imagine her personality to be more of the bouncy, energetic type than her sister. Kind of like Noriko from Gunbuster.
2/5 of the team is done, expect the others soonishly.

That is a marvelous piece of art - thanks for the tip about the Pen tool too!
Thought I was the only one who used that....
Any special abilities - are there any Bios?

The other Orbot deviations all have short write ups, but they aren't consolidated in a single place just yet. I'll maybe make a Journal entry for that. Special abilities are very specific, if you look up the thread a little bit I explain them in a bit more detail.
I'm still getting the hang of the Pen tool. I need to work on adding some thickness variation to my drawings, so everything isn't so static. I've seen other artists on this site use thickness variation to great effect, so I think I'll try shamelessly stealing their techniques and try to refine mine.

Okies - well tip - use the Pressure stimulation box - makes excellent sweeps! Again apologies for the lateness of my reply.
Please send me a link to these special ability feeds - I am a geek on stuff like that.

I've messed around with Pressure Simulation, but I've not quite gotten the hang of it. Where to start the line, where to end it, how many points, etc etc. I'll screw around with it some more.
Check out the comments here ([link] ). The first thread (with Sper3) explains what the gist of what the Orbots can do!

Thanks, I always liked Boo; she's definitely the more cheerful of the two.

Wasn't she supposed to be modeled on a black girl? She had pretty puffy lips and molded "hair" that looked like pulled-back curls.

Oh my, you know I never once noticed that? I figured it was just robot hair! I'll have to rewatch a few episodes to see if your observation plays out. Both Bo and Boo had much more human lips than the other Orbots, so I guess I never noticed. For comparison's sake, look at Dia; she's facially very similar to either Orbot sister.

The Orbots were never terribly complicated (much like the modern Brave robots), which is good, because I'm not all that good at complexity!

Eyes look a bit too human for the design I think. Given how her thighs are it makes the lower legs appear really thin.
But on the overall its a pleasing design. Will be interesting to see how they all go together in the end.

I happen to agree with you on the legs issue. It was one of those things that looked as I sketched it, but as soon as I tried to finalize things it didn't quite pan out the way I wanted to. Have you seen Bo? I think the proportions look a little better there, in what is essentially the same design.
About the eyes, that was kind of a design call. The originals were very human looking, so I wanted to keep some of that (compared to the 'male' Orbots, who I felt could use a little less humanity to up the badass factor a little). Still, I might experiment with eyes that look more like KouRyu and AnRyu from GaoGaiGar; they are full lenses, but still resemble 'human' in shape. Thanks for the input, bro!
