And there we go! The last of the Orbot redesigns is finished! Bo was surprisingly hard to get right, despite the structural similarity to Boo. I can't tell you how many poses I tried, till finally I managed to settle on this one. As a contrast to her sister, Bo is more aggressive, flamboyant and mischevous. I wanted to capture that a little more literally in her redesign, so while Boo is patterned a little after a rabbit, Bo is patterned after a cat. Static poses weren't working, so I had to find more of a movement shot. The shading got to be a little more dramatic than I originally intended, so I broke from the pattern of the other Orbot pieces and used a bit of a gradient as the background, to simulate the harsh light that would cause those shadows.Unfortunately, Mighty Orbots isn't exactly the next one; I want to do the redesign of Rob, Ohno and the Beam Car next, but that should just be a single piece. Or who knows, I could just decide to do the big guy after all.

Thanks! I really struggled with her look, I think I have like six pages worth of head sketches alone. In the end I thought cat ears would be appropriate; glad to know I wasn't too far off base.

Where is the design here? all i see is a anime face and an ugly body with boxes attached together for arms and legs. Make more details and stop being lazy.

The design is certainly simple, I give you that. In part it's because my figure drawings have been very static up to now, and I've been experimenting with trying to get more dynamic posing. I find I'm not that great at keeping shapes looking right when I start tilting them at odd angles, so rather than putting together a complex design posed like an Dali reject, I thought I'd keep it simple till I get a better handle on things.

Nicely done. Bo has always seemed more feminine and older (in appearance at least) than Boo, and this captures it nicely.

Thanks, she was actually the hardest of the five to get just right, because her personality is so much more defined by body language. I was definitely going for a more playful pose, but it was hard to do that without making it just seem ridiculous. In the end I just looked at photos of dancers, and one of the poses just made sense.
