Description
This really happened.In my defense, we were ALL bantering back and forth with the waiter that night and I wasn't being mean-spirited, just joking around with him.
I think I won that night.
(And for the curious, because I know it'll be asked... yes, I do use a wheelchair and cane both depending on the situation/day. My cane's name is Kaywinnit

I was privy to someone doing this exact same thing in a restaurant a few days back, though it was more the waiter being an ass. The waiter was having a bad day and snapping at everyone. He basically snapped when this one lovely girl asked him to read out the menu for her (from where I was sitting I saw the white cane, so I kept my yap shut and just watched). He started basically telling her off ["What the hell's wrong with you? You blind?!"], to which she replied ever so nicely, "Why yes, sir, I am blind" and produced the cane out from under the table.
I've never applauded in a restaurant, not even during a birthday dinner, but damn if that wasn't a performance I enjoyed XD
Seeing this, it's nice to know there's a sense of humour in everyone. I like the waiter's "omgwhat?" expression in panels four and five. That just cracks me up. It reminds me of the poor bastard's face when that lovely girl pulled out her white cane. Absolutely priceless!

My favorite time was when I was in the grocery store and this old Russian lady was talking with her son (who was like in his 20s or something) and she's yelling about how he needs to get married and stuff, and then she sees me and walks up to me and says "you see? is good birthing hips! what woman supposed to be not stick person! Need wet nurse but good hips! You get woman like this!" and then walked off yelling in Russian at her son who looked like he wanted to dig a hole in the ground and never come out. I was left standing there going "uhhhh what just happened?" O_o
another favorite of mine is when I was at this restaurant with some of my friends and these big football player types show up and try to glare us away from the table thinking they're so tough. So I stand up. (now you must understand I am 6' tall and not a stick person as you have read.) the guys stare up at me (they're short rotfl) and then walk away very quickly. tis awesome.

every so often my ankle acts up, and a cane helps so i don't fall over. that and i carry a cane for self-defense for when i go out at night (the cane i have for that is a Cold Steel brand skull headed city stick, it is awesome ^__^ )

I have the same disease , though it seems to center around my back and knees. Anyway, this comic really brightened up my 3 a.m. vigil- everything seems so much less bleak when you have evidence of other people living with fibromyalgia, and making the most of it. Thank you!

*also, this reminded me of like the best trip anywhere in my entire life, basically, i was one of a few people who had to be hospitalised and in the hospital i was given a wheelchair because i was too weak to stand and they had wheelchair races. then when we were in the beds, they raced them too (although the beds kept jamming into the walls)

i've already deicided that if i end up in a wheelchair or i need a cane and anyone ANYONE dares call me handicapped, i will hit them with somthing hard and painful.
i much prefer the term cripple.
handicapped sounds so so so so so so much worse than cripple.

I also use a cane... But just in very cold days... An old injury in my left knee...
