Backstory:
There's a new Gargoyles comic out. Which is AWESOME, and I fully intend to buy it when I can finally get my fat ass to a comic book store. But there's been some not-so-great remarks about the artwork in the comic. The colors, IMO, are fine and well done enough, but could be better. The anatomy, however? Definitely... DEFINITELY could be better. And the characters just don't LOOK right. And Elisa Maza has some very nice flotation devices stuffed inside her shirt.
Well apparently at the Gathering of 2006 (which I did not attend), Greg mentioned that the artwork was good. Exact wording I'm unsure of. Which led to people wondering what Greg was smoking. Which led to mention of my Demona comic. Which led to THIS.
And no, I cannot draw Greg to save my life.
And I have no idea who the Extra is.
Greg, if you see this... remember it's all in good fun, I'm sure you weren't smoking anything, I can't draw you, and we all love you.

Met the creater at Convergence in MN very cool guy, he was in a few panels, very good input. The comic in interesting I can't wait to see where he takes it

*LOL!* I love it! And yes, the coloring I think was pretty good. Except the cover coloring. I know stephanie Lostimolo did it, and she's one of my favorites, but I think she could have done much better.
But the line artwork. Holy hell.

I never said it was bad. I said Stephanie is one of my favorites and that she could do better because I've seen her stuff and know she's awe-inspiring 99.99% of the time.
'It could be better' does NOT translate into 'It's bad', because I don't think Stephanie is capeable of bad coloring.

Why didn't you like it? The color transfer made it too dark, but how was the color itself bad, in your opinion?

Did they change the art team on the comic? a penceler say? changes in art style can have that effect I reber when Wichblade fot a new arist, it was awfull to my eye.

Ehmm... change the art team from what? From the team on the old Marvel comic? Yeah. Some new bloke named David Hedgecock is the penciller on the SLG book. I can't even dignify the colourist by remembering his name. I'm in the boat that thinks the quality of the work put out by the penciller and interior colourist is significantly less than professional.

I've been looking for the comic, but B-a-B hasn't got it yet. Sux that it sounds like its the art's gonna be crappy. Why make a comic if the point of a comic is to have awesome art? O_o weird.

Sorry, but, as much as I may love (and buy) comics with great artwork, there is such a thing as a "good" comic with lackluster art. It's called "writing", and without comics would just be pretty pictures.

Writing is important and often i pay more attention to it than the art and composition, but in the end if you want to do is good writing, write a book, not a comic.
