Hmm... I never thought about drawing hands like that, using two opposing ovals. I'll try it out next time. ^_^ Thanks for the tutorial!

If you cup your palm the two ovals become a bit more apparent :3 Its not extremely intuitive but its a nice way to start thinking about distribution of masses! And glad you liked the tut

Even though I draw manga I attempt to stay away from melted fingers of doom. I could still use practice ^_^', but I found this tutorial helpful and plan on using it frequently to improve hands, 'cause hands are important desu yo! (^_^)b

I saw this on the main page while I was logging out of my sister's account and thought "oo, a hand tutorial! I've got to come back and look for that." then I checked my deviations and saw that it was from you!
When I was little I devoted one page in my sketchbook to only copying hands. Any time I saw a hand I liked in one of my books or something I'd go and copy it onto that page. It helped me to no end! But it's not like riding a bike. I got complacent and stopped worrying about making the hands accurate, and now I'm crippled again, limited to only a few poses! So I've got to go back and learn again. This is a great tutorial!

Wow, I'm surprised you had that much motivation... hands are super hard to understand D: I don't think I fully got them for quite a while (in fact I distinctly remember sucking at them pretty recently so I don't really know whats going on)... in any case, I disagree a little, I bet you've just forgotten your poses but they'll come back to you :3
