Another tutorial Theres a lot of text but I tried to make my system as clear as possible. As usual you can copy or use any of these drawings freely, but be sure to read the tut as well! As I recommend in it to ref from photos or real life over other people who might have made mistakes (not me of course, as I never make mistakes) (lol). Enjoy!

I never understood how some people just seemed to "get" drawing hands. I'd be like, "those hands look amazing! How long did it take you to learn that?" And they'd just stare at me like it was the easiest thing in the world. <-- this is why I hate art classes sometimes. T_T;;
For the rest of us, this tutorial is a dream come true. I really like that you use such bold and clear lines, it makes learning a little easier. You rock!

I agree completely with you! I'm an artist myself and have extreme trouble with hands! But strangely everyone else seems to have a breeze with drawing hands! I have no idea how they do it!?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your tutorial has helped me so much; usually, I just draw the basic hand shape and do the tube thing with the fingers. However, once I looked at your tutorial and used the tactics you did, my drawing of hands has gotten exponentially better.
All the internet to you.

I havn't drawn for a long time, say.... a good year or two without crumpling my pages in dissapointment and ending up with a pyrimid of failure taller than myself to stare me down as I try again. Recently though, due to the inspiration from reading my fave webcomics ( meek being one of them ), I've really started to see an improvement in my style... maybe even prograssion *GASP*. Your tutorials are not only helping me, but I get a real kick out of reading them too. So keep it up!

i don't remember if i've commented on this before, if i have, i hope it was long enough ago that you don't remember so i don't seem like a nut.
Your tutorials are always so well thought-out and comprehensive (also amusing, which makes everything infinitely easier to read through.) Every time i go through one i'm left feeling i should be trying a bit harder than i am, which is probably a good thing.
ps - Fat hammy baby hands are the best baby hands. Look at it, it's going going to grasp something and be adorable.

I'm knew at all this reference stuff. Wouldn't that be tracing? Or is ok if we use it in art or practice? Can I really learn such way?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
shingworks In reply to Animebasket [2011-03-13 04:52:57 +0000 UTC]
It depends on your personal learning style If you find it easier to trace or reference, then you should go for it! For all of my tutorials, you can do whatever you want with the images if you think it will help you learn.
