Description
FURRIES lolJust kidding, they're scalies. Three sceloporus; S. consobrinus, S. undulatus and S. woodi, being all old timey. I was thinking Lackadaisy Lizards the entire time I was painting this. Which, incidentally, was 2.5 hours, because I am going crazy trying to finish all my work...
Despite deadlines, I decided to do this anyways cuz its for my (doctor!!!) friend Adam, who has a paper coming out soon
Also I think I need more art in my gallery that isn't mature T__T Everything has had boobs in it lately.

Well, when I get in a slump I tend to do fanart, it makes other people happy and it lets me practice something new! Since nobody's going to complain about fanart even if it is a little bit wacky, haha. Or you can try drawing something completely outside what you usually do, like objects or scenery, just for a change of pace?

If you're looking to draw something accurately, then yes! If you're more interested in color or composition then you don't really need any....

This is stuff I know! Sceloporous. I've got S. occidentalis and S. graciousis around here. Gotta love their little blue bellies. I know someone that also did their thesis on Scelops.

They go all the way up on mountains too X3 They're so ubiquitous. In one of my field classes my friends and I would joke that common things were the Sceloporus of their species.. like "turkey vultures are the Sceloporus of birds" or whatever XD
Who do you know that studies these too? I might know them...

I know! When I took Herpetology, we got kind of bored of Scelops and alligator lizards. Only kind of, Scelops are fun to play with.
I'm at Chico State, and a fellow by the name of Jackson Shedd studied the different dimensions of the belly stripes in the males and then tried to correlate it to success in display behaviors. He also wrote a book for the Reptiles and Amphibians of Bidwell Park, which is the local park here.

Oh I see X3 I did a similar project for my Herp final paper. It sucked having to recapture all those lizards to figure out which individuals they were. Also it was the height of tick season ;__;
