Well, in real world alchemy Metatron's Cube was used as a type of transmutation circle and in magick it's used to ward off evil spirits and demons. I guess that in FMA style alchemy it might prove to be a versitile circle that could be used for a variety of tasks, but it's just a guess as I didn't really intend it to do anything but look cool.
