"…hello?"

It took a moment for him to regain his senses, but when he did, he had no idea if he had woken up in Vlad's lab again or not.

Only then did he realize he certainly hadn't.

He jerked slightly, gripping his arm and sitting up instantly. His body ached intensely as he looked around frantically and saw walls of utter white. Only two or three tables were set up in there, and some of them had… odd-looking items inside them. Were those—oh god.

The boy recoiled, hand instinctively going over where his heart was.

'What the hell is this place?! I gotta—'

"Oh! You're awake!"

He jerked around, nearly falling off the countertop from where he was perched and almost got into a fighting stance before seeing whom the voice belonged to. Standing behind him was a young girl, about thirteen years old and holding a sketchbook. She tucked a piece of blond hair behind her ear, smiling shyly and watching him. The girl was calm; like she wasn't afraid that he could attack her at any moment. "I was beginning to wonder if you were sleeping or…"

He gritted his teeth, eyes flashing brightly from blue to green. "Who the hell are you?!"

She blinked, the smile slipping for a moment before closing them and grinning brightly. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!"

The teenager studied her, tilting his head. Her white dress was simple, but beautiful. And she was already way too cheerful for her own good. Said girl also was clutching her notebook tightly like one would a blanket when they were younger. "…what?"

"My name is Naminé. I'd like to welcome you to Castle Oblivion, but it looks like everyone else already has!"

The male continued to stare at her, and she turned away slightly with a gentle flush. "Castle what?"

"Castle Oblivion! Where everything is simply a memory and to find is to lose… but to lose is to find!" Naminé turned around and hoisted herself up on one of the tables, turning behind her and grabbing a crayon from the counter. "They brought you here because you're special. A heart of both light and darkness! They couldn't believe it was real!"

For a moment, he looked totally lost as Naminé hummed away and scribbled in her sketchbook. He looked down at himself, frowning and sitting back. He was now wearing an obscenely large overcoat and black boots. Like the guys who ended up taking—he paled. Wait, this couldn't be right. "So… you must know my name, right?"

Naminé nodded, focused on her picture now. "Yup! They said you were their greatest triumph yet. And I have to agree!"

"M-my heart… is it…?"

"No no! It's not gone! They couldn't take it out!" She frowned now, gazing at her drawing and pursing her lips. "That was the funny thing. Said it was almost impossible to do that."

He blinked. "What?"

"Mhmm!" Cheerfully, she finally looked up and offered him another bright smile. "A Nobody with a heart! Isn't that amazing?"

"N-N…Naminé? What's my name?"

She giggled. "They call you Xadynn. After that boy they managed to capture! They called you a ghost of him!"

There was silence.

The young man felt his stomach churn, the need to throw up rising.
