Description I have discovered huge differences between the Vi artwork and the ingame version. Here are the most visible ones! I really like the model viewers (with the ingame versions), because they are so easy to use and to see all that you need for your cosplay. But the artwork is WAY better, so I guess I'm gonna use what I can from the artwork and I'll take the rest from the model viewers. Btw, is it me or the hands in the artwork are bigger? Or is it just the perspective? What do you think?

Soooooo.... kinda want to know what pic you used for your cosplay. I know they all can't be 100% but I was just thinking about what one people would pick. But yes... stuff like this drives me crazy... why cant they just make them the same!

I hope I understand your question well, were you asking what image I decided to use as reference? Well, I decided on the splash art as main reference and for the parts that are not visible, the ingame model. I find it the best option I could think of.

well, you might have troubles finding high heels on your size and hiding that facial hair... other than that, don;t think so. you'd fit the character perfectly

Thanks! Yeah Im going to pass on the heels. I was thinking of something punk-ish like her so maybe old Chucks with some flair added. I got an awesome hair cut for it as well. I will have to shave a bit so the "VI" will stand out more.... maybe not. I need to test it. Also my Vi gloves are going to be smaller but have WAY to much detail... its a massive pain in the butt. If I pull it off... man will it be cool. But I digress. XD

You should check out the original concept art, it's different too

Oh, i know it... I'm not even thinking about it... I guess they changed it afterwards, so I'm not taking it into account...

Also making a vi cosplay btw, mainly based on the concept art, it shows every angle and detailed

When i did my shyvana, i noticed the difference between the artwork and in game model too. But obviously the in game model is a lot more basic for animation purposes vs art where it just stays still and doesn't need to turn 360 and show dif angles I went mostly by the in game model but went into more detail as the artwork would suggest to make things pop. Mixing the two is fun and gives you options!

I can't wait to see this costume!

having a reference that you can turn around and watch in every detail is awesome, but I still decided to take as main reference the splash art and then add what's not visible from the model. Oh, yes... and improvise and adapt a lot, although I'm not a big fan of it usually...

Hehe, thanks! That's why I always manage to transform simple cosplays into complicated ones

It would probably also be prudent to point out the difference in anatomy, it's not just perspective, the artwork has Vi's torso way too long, it's makes the corset in the artwork not only impractical and impossible. Even just making the belt the same proportion it would be about 5 inches wide which is ridiculous. In the artwork for correct proportioning Vi's breasts should be around where the top of the corset is. I'm cosplaying Vi too but I'm only following the Model because it's a more accurate representation of the character and what is more accurate and practical to turn into cosplay/clothing. The artwork is an interpretation, the model more closely follows the original design and concept of the character.

I see your point of view and it's true. I think I'm just gonna take the colours, fabrics and whatever I can see from the artwork and change it to my own anatomy. Even in the model viewer, Vi is really thin and I don't think I can get to there by May

okay good luck oh by the way I was curious, what are you doing about her hair and the shaved side?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShinjusWorkshop In reply to KJDSTJME [2013-02-06 13:34:11 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I've been thinking a lot about that shaved side of her head and I decided that I cannot afford to shave my head. I will buy a wig and I'll just cut it shorter on that side, maybe even change the colour there a bit.... not sure yet...

Okay cool c: I'll be interested to see how it looks, I've been discussing with a friend who does hair dressing and I'm probably going to go for getting my hair cut/dyed like hers; scary.

Wow, I wish I could do that! But my read hair isn't really that great to use it for this and if my family saw me shaved and with pink hair, they'd probably renegade me I would really want to see how it's gonna be!

TH0RLEIF [2013-02-04 14:08:04 +0000 UTC]

I would use the artwork where possible. It seems some details are changed or left out to make the model look good ingame without having too much detail (because more detail = more CPU/GPU load).

yeah, that's how I am planning to do things... mostly artwork and then model...

You can see the gemstone. But I don't think it's mandatory for the designers to make it 100% accurate. Some things, like the phalanges, are better left in a simple manner because it's a lot of information and detail for nothing. Most of the time ingame you don't really look at your champion but the enemy champ.

ShinjusWorkshop In reply to Mihzrael [2013-02-04 11:48:13 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I totally agree, my problem was what to use from where as reference...
Oh, indeed, the gem is visible, but it has a very funny position The angle is funny when you play, anyway, I rarely look at my champion. I think the animations matter more.

Her thigh plates are very different in design, too. I've made mine using the model designs because I prefer the details on that, though for the rest of her costume the splash art has more funky details.

Picking and choosing what's going in for Vi is kind of fun! Can't wait to see your version of her!

Well, if I get my hands on some money soon, I'll start working. For now it's just working on others' costumes... (Ashe, in this case)

I think the hands in the model viewer have the right size , if you look on the art, hands arrive at ankles I think it's very too big XD
