Description
Part of the "Draw an Obscure Fighting Game Character: challenge for .Interested to draw obscure FG characters? There are a ton of fighting game characters that are rarely drawn.
Sometimes because they are just from very old games, sometimes because they have very unattractive designs.
But maybe these characters can be fun to draw and be an interesting challenge for you because their look is hard to catch or the challenge would be to make a boring character look like a badass?
If the topic of rarely drawn fighting game characters interests you and you would like to get a personal challenge (or choose between three of them) just comment!
Any drawn characters for this challenge will get featured via a journal here as well as via an own blog article about the character, your artwork and yourself on http://www.game-art-hq.com/ as an extra reward....Except you don't want that of course!
Everyone gets a deadline of 1 month depending on the day of joining the challenge
Cheers and happy weekend :icongbk666:
Though obscure, she is perhaps the first of many video game anthropomorphic vixens. Before Sly Cooper's Carmelita. Before Star Fox's Krystal. Hell; before Digimon's ' Renamon. There was Foxy Roxy from the obscure 'Brutal: Paws of Fury.'
The game saw it's release on SNES, Genesis, and I believe Jaguar and 32X if I'm not mistaken.
It should come as no surprise that Foxy Roxy was the most memorable (and popular) fighter from that game for those who remember it.
And looking at her figure; it's easy to see why she was popular. ;3
Another full fledged furry fighting game is awaiting to be made in this day and age. Foxy Roxy could've been the Chun Li of furry fighting females. Though honestly; I think Darkstalkers' Felicia holds that title more than anything else. (Even though she's still part human.)
Still it was fun drawing her like this. And gives more people exposure to this forgotten fighter.

Lol, I doubt it. The control is really sluggish. I actually have the GEN and SNES versions as well. Itβs been a while since Iβve played either version (bought the latter two just for the hell of it), but I seem to recall that the control wasnβt much tighter for those systems either. Too bad. The CDβs only saving grace was a few cartoon FMVs and, of course, the music. It retained the same lamentable graphics as the GEN version.

Amazing!! XD I only played this on SNES. Wonder how the Amiga version holds up.
BTW: I see in the SF2 art jam we got the same character! How awesome is hat?

Well, the problem is, the Amiga version was the original, and due to Amiga's rather unique structure, porting games form it was quite a chore, with pretty poor results. The case wasn't that severe with Brutal, since it still played very well, but most ports from Amiga, be it for SNES, Genesis or other, ended up pretty shabby.
I may sound like a fanboy, but the AMiga had some pretty awesome games which play surprisingly well even to this day.
And that is actually why I decided to pay you a visit |3

I'm sure the Amiga did have some awesome games. It's just too bad I missed out on it. Perhaps I'll visit it sometime.
Oh hey; fancy that. XD Believe it or not; by T Hawk pic is done and I'm uploading it right now. :3

The Amiga was a big deal mostly in Europe, we didn't have the fancy systems like SNES or Genesis, so we played on Amiga. It had it's flaws, but it had a very solid game library, granted, with many shitty titles, but also with many amaizng ones.
I actually did over 20 artworks as a sort of tribute, showcasing some of the best titles the system had to offer (including Brutal actually).
And why wouldn't I believe it? Just because my work takes a lot of time doesn't mean everyone is working so slow XD

shinragod In reply to LukeTheRipper [2017-03-01 02:02:28 +0000 UTC]
I heard the same with Commodore 64. Yeah Europe had the big computer gaming boom while we had the big console gaming boom in the late 80's and early 90's. Each has their own merits and faults.
Oh I didn't mean it like that. XD I actually got T Hawk done ahead of time prior to the Tribute slots opening. Took a lot of faith to reserve him today but somehow it worked out. XD

LukeTheRipper In reply to shinragod [2017-03-01 02:16:42 +0000 UTC]
Well, C64 and Amiga come from the same company. They're sort of like NES and SNES, the C64 had some cool games for it's time, but since it was VERY troublesome to even start up said games, they were quickly completely overshadowed by Amiga.

So I've seen from James Rolfe's AVGN episode on Superman on Commodore 64 XD
π: 0 β©: 1
LukeTheRipper In reply to shinragod [2017-03-01 11:07:31 +0000 UTC]
Oh no, you've only seen the lengthy loading (I'm a huge AVGN fan myself, I know that episode XD), plus, Rolfe did show us a floppy disk game, which is incomparably easier to load than the more troublesome datassette (the games which came on cassettes)
Lets just say, there are many, MANY issues that can occur when loading a C64 game, from the infamous "black screen" and "bad screen", which can occur at any time, to standard errors which can occur when playing any cassette. Hehe, lets just say, the list of problems one has to go through to load moast C64 games deserve an AVGN episode on their own XD (hell, I've been encouraging Rolfe to do a C64 or Amiga episodes for over a year).
Heh, though it's kinda funny how this conversation evolved XD

Oh yeah, I remember seeing her in a video once. She seems like a really neat character. A shame she's become so obscure, as she's really good looking and tough looking at the same time.
Very good work on drawing her. She appears to be ready to kick ass.

I heard a little about this game. A company called GameTek (a company I very well remember for their Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! games) was behind this title. GameTek also helped port an Amiga game called Zool to various home consoles.

What a Flashback to the SNES era.
We are way overdue our next Furry based fighting game. Is a shame that Beast's Fury failed, it looked so awesome as a game.

And yeah, Foxy Roxy is most definitely a charming and athletic character too heheh.

This one has good memories of that game. She was the primary reason for getting Brutal: Paws of Fury, and it's updated version Above the Claw. Foxy Roxy, AKA Indrah Prashmet, skilled in penjat silat martial arts, and a charitable servant of the common folk in India. It's funny how the only other time you drew her, she was having coffee with Carmelita, Krystal and Ursula, complaining of still residing with her parents. Her dynamic with the Dali Llama is peculiar, however. He is viewed by some as a villainous Shang Tsung-esque final boss, while others see him as a peaceful overseer seeking to transcend the need for violence and is looking for someone to claim the Belt of Heaven as a means to be his replacement once he ascends. With both views, Foxy has a romantic attraction to him, either way. At least you honour her beauty, grace and combat skills with this image.

Foxy Roxy is mentioned to be among the ONLY reasons people remember Brutal Paws of Fury. In fact I dare say if there was a Top Ten reasons people remember 'Brutal'; she would probably be Number 1.
Oh yeah; that old OLD pic. XD I guess back then it was funny. It seems like only Carmelita and Krystal survived that ordeal.
What you mention about the Dali Llama is really an interesting dynamic for a final boss character. He doesn't appear evil or good. He's merely handing off his sacred title to the winner of the tournament; whether good or evil.
Luckily this lovely vixen is good through and through.
I thank you as always bro for your insightful commentary.

Funny how the other characters have their own respective back stories, such as Tai Cheetah being the mentor to the Johnny Cage-like Kendo Coyote. Then there's also Kung Fu Bunny (Dreamworks and China's own sorry Legend of the Kung Fu Rabbit...) who is different from our adorkable panda hero Po. Leon's backstory to avenge an insult by Tai and Kendo is rather vague. Rhei, Croc and Ivan are just your typical arrogant strong types. Pantha is creepy as hell, to say nothing of Psycho and the nasty little Chung Poe. Of all the characters, Foxy is the most virtuous and principled in her Good Samaritan desires.
