Personal

Personality: [+]Responsible [+]Self-Sufficient [+]Friendly [=]Quiet [=]Physically Active [=]Stoic [-]Closed-off [-]Repressed [-]Distrustful

Brigette is a very quiet individual who only speaks when spoken to. She even moves quietly, and is great at sneaking up on people to the point where more than one person has expressed a desire to put a bell on her. While not asocial, Brigette is closed-off and rarely speaks her mind. No matter how she feels, no matter how injured, she will just reply with "I'm fine". She is very stoic and doesn't visibly emote often. Even when surprised or amused, her expression and voice rarely change, so it can be very difficult to determine how she's feeling at any given time. This stoicism is not entirely natural, as Brigette is very emotionally repressed. She bottles up most of her emotions and feelings and hides them from other people. Part of this stems from a desire to be self-sufficient and not be a bother to other people. Brigette prefers to do things for herself, such as cooking, cleaning, and so on. This has made her into quite the responsible young lady, keeping on top of her chores and whatnot. If you ask Brigette to get a job done, she will do it to the best of her ability. Finally, Brigette is a little distrustful, especially of strangers. She doesn't really trust people unless she knows they can be trusted. Though if you can manage to earn her trust, you will find her to be very friendly. Brigette tries her best to get along with other people, and deeply cares about those friends. Having grown up next to the ocean, Brigette loves to swim, and is physically active. She prefers going outside and running around or playing a sport to sitting inside.

Time Era: Present day (2021).

History:
Trigger Warning: Child Neglect

Brigette St. Croix had an uneventful childhood. Her parents were loving and understanding, only wanting the best for their little girl. Though she had some difficulty making friends in school, her grades were fine, and she never seemed to need attention from her peers. This didn't stop her parents from worrying that Brigette was lonely, especially with both of them working. But whenever they offered to set up a play date with a classmate, or to get her a pokemon companion, she would only reply with "I'm fine".

One day, Brigette was in the middle of class when the principal entered and called her to his office. Her mother was waiting, and tearfully told her daughter they were going to the hospital. That was the day that Brigette's uneventful, peaceful childhood came crashing down around her. Her father had been attacked by a wild toxicroak, and was very badly injured. Nobody knew if he was going to pull through, and even if he survived it was doubtful he'd be able to walk again, his body badly damaged by the poison.

It was too much for her mother. She simply couldn't look after her husband and provide for Brigette, especially with a full-time job. As the sole earner in their family, she didn't have the time or money to raise a young teenager. There was nothing else she could do besides send Brigette to Chicole Village, to be taken care of by her relatives. They couldn't have been more different from her parents. They ignored Brigette, acting as if the girl didn't exist. She was given food, clothes, and little else. The only times they noticed her was when she broke something or made a mess, and their attention was hardly positive.

Eventually Brigette had enough, so she pretended to run away. She left a note on the kitchen table and hid in an abandoned barn, watching her relatives to see what they'd do. They did nothing! They didn't even make a token effort to alert the rangers about a runaway child, or even call her mother! For the first time in her life, Brigette was furious. So not even running away made them take any notice of her? Then she really would run away! She'd make her way back to Pueltown. Mother would be awfully surprised to see her daughter again, especially when her caretakers didn't even tell anyone the girl was missing! Ohh, they would be in really hot water then!

It was not a very thought-out plan. Brigette was a 14-year-old child, and she was attempting to walk through the wilderness. She never made it to the nearest town, as she was attacked by some territorial starly. She thought this might be the end, when a blast of fire scared the flock away. A man with an eyepatch held out a hand, asking if she was injured.

The man's name was Chester Allen, and he was in Almia on some sort of business. That was all he was willing to tell Brigette. He asked what she was doing out in the wilderness, to which Brigette replied "I'm fine" and continued on her way. She didn't make it much farther after that before a patrolling ranger caught her. Absolutely no one seemed to know what to do with the girl. On the one hand, her mother still couldn't look after her, on the other her relatives were clearly unfit to do so.

In the end, Chester saved Brigette once again, offering to take her in. He brought her to his house in Unova, where he was raising a number of other children, most of them runaways or orphans. Surrounded by others, Brigette began to open up a little. She still would answer every question with a simple "I'm fine", but bonds were forming between her and the other children.

And then one day, Chester just...disappeared. He left, seemingly on a business trip, and never returned. Not too long after that, the house awoke to find that another resident, a younger teen named Rori, was also missing.

Brigette had no idea what to do. She couldn't exactly go to the police, seeing as many of the children weren't legally supposed to be there. Before going to bed, she saw a shooting star pass through the sky. "I wish I could find them" she said, and went to bed. When she awoke, it was in an unfamiliar room in an unfamiliar house...
