Description
To decide whether it's "Good" or "Not good," we have a very simple rule: the composition must be true. We must describe what is, what we see, what we hear, what we do.
For example, is is forbidden to write, "Grandmother is like a witch"; but we are allowed to write, "People call Grandmother the Witch."
It is forbidden to write, "The Little Town is beautiful," because the Little Town may be beautiful to us and ugly to someone else.
Similarly, if we write, "The orderly is nice," this isn't a truth, because the orderly may be capable of malicious acts that we know nothing about. So we would simply write, "The orderly has given us some blankets."
We would write, "We eat a lot of walnuts," and not "We love walnuts," because the word "love" is not a reliable word, it lacks precision and objectivity. "To love walnuts" and "to love Mother" don't mean the same thing. The first expression designates a pleasant taste in the mouth, the second a feeling.
Words that define feelings are very vague. It is better to avoid using them and stick to the description of objects, human beings, and oneself, that is to say, to the faithful description of facts.
---Agota Kristof's The Notebook, "Our Studies"
Finally done! Download for the full Wow That's HUEG Version. ;D
Characters from Mother 3 cast as Character's From Agota Kristof's books: The Notebook, The Proof, and the Third Lie:
-Lucas and Claus as...yeah.
-Hinawa as Mother
-Flint as Father (draped over him is the Orderly's blanket, and in the foreground in front of him are the two boards)
-Leder as The Insomniac
-Duster as Mathias ( thus I drew him young, though I couldn't manage a seven-year-old Duster as is Mathias's proper age at...a certain point
-Tessie as Yasmine, her dress tie dissolving in to two of Mother's homeknit scarves (I'M SO SORRY)
-Abbey as Sarah (I'M SO SORRY x2)
-Kumatora as Harelip, holding Boney (I'M SO SORRY xOVER 9,000 PLEASE FORGIVE ME)
So yeah, this is likely to be the last non-SaB and non-=M1 Children's Book work I do for a while. I just really, really wanted to draw this X,D
Grandmother isn't in the picture because I associated her with Locria, and drawing old people - especially decidedly masculine old people that are dressed as women and may possibly have ridiculous hair and shark-toothed smiles, etc. - are not quite my forté.
But such is life. Or something like that. ^^

Two siblings. Each one writes his own story. But their stories eventually cross paths.

Man, I love this. The coloring, the portrayals of the characters in this picture and the specific characters from The Notebook, The Proof, and the Third Lie they're associated with...damn, this is brilliant. And you should totally draw Locria as Grandmother.
*also crazy about both MOTHER 3 and Agota Kristof's Notebook trilogy*

Thank you very much! : D
Maybe I'll draw that when I learn to decently draw things over the age of 40 or so. ; D

Also, I wonder who you cast as the other characters of the book?
*although she herself only associated the twins, their parents, and Thomas with their MOTHER 3 counterparts/characters with the same names, thinks Ionia would make a good housekeeper*

Bleh, I hardly even remember. I plan on rereading the trilogy this summer if I find the time, though. ,: )

I've read The Notebook and The Proof twice each. I've yet to re-read The Third Lie, though - was going to re-read it, but then my life got busier and I got side-tracked.
I'm curious: have you read any of Kristof's other works? *obviously really enjoyed the Notebook trilogy, and not just the MOTHER 3 factor* I've also read Yesterday and Où es-tu Mathias?. Neither one has to do with the Notebook trilogy (save for the latter book having another character named Mathias and Kristof reusing a couple quotes from The Proof), but you might also enjoy them.

Actually, no, I haven't read any of her other works, though I knew about the whole Mathias thing.

Hehe. I love the connection you made between The Notebook and Mother 3
Also, that's a very confusing little except. I remember reading that part in the book and having to read it over several times.
Good art!!

Ack I just finished these books, and they were AMAZING. I like you choices of characters (because most of them match xD) and it would have been awesome to see a couple more. I almost thought Leder as more of the Priest. x3

No way, Leder's totally the Insomniac! The Insomniac waxes poetic about memories and such for, like, five pages XD
Regardless, thank you very much! Yeah, they're pretty awesome. 8D
