Makes me think of something I saw in a movie once, where a guy got infected by some green fuzzy stuff from a meteorite that landed near his house that seemed to spread more rapidly when exposed to water... (He finally shot himself after taking a bath and finding out that the bath was a BAD idea as he had basically become covered in green fuzz. The ending of which I seem to remember that his death did not stop the growth of the green stuff that had consumed his body...) I think it was from tales from the darkside or something of that sort...
