Description
As far as modeling goes, I'm basically done. I may add a few more aesthetic details to the fuselage/cockpit. Once I finish sorting out the smoothing groups, I can do some mesh smooth, etc.Just realized I've only been working on this for ~3 weeks as opposed to the ~3 months for the Humming Bird.

The Axis is a short-range interceptor. It is named for is wings which pivot and rotate along the center axis, allowing the aircraft to make extremely sharp maneuvers. The downside to this design is a slower top speed and operational ceiling when in atmosphere which prevents it from opposing high-speed reconnaissance craft like the ADR-101 Humming Bird. Because the Axis is designed to change direction quickly and fight in multiple dimensions at all times, the craft features a digital canopy which supplies the pilot with a 360 degree view of the battlefield drawn from cameras embedded throughout the hull. To assist with piloting, the ship is also equipped with a miniaturized super-computer, however it is only capable of processing target data, computing stresses, wing angles, and object avoidance in real time.
The Axis' extreme maneuverability comes at a hefty cost. Axis pilots fighting dogfights in atmosphere can suffer G-forces in excess of 20 times gravity. Prolonged or over-frequent piloting can result in grave bodily injury. Motion sickness is such a concern that Pilots are fitted with an IV supplying them with a form of Meclizine to prevent dizziness and vomiting. The combination of all this creates immense stress that requires pilots to rotate frequently and do most of their flying in simulation. Over time, these stresses can break down and utterly destroy a pilot leaving them in a semi-catatonic state.
While the Axis is capable of space combat with slight modification, it is outclassed by ships designed specifically for that environment.

Oh god, oh god, I'm gonna die?
XD j/k
At that point it's probably best to eject, because if the whole digital canopy fails, then the ship computer has failed and there is no way in hell to fly without it.
