I assume that she is like the polar opposite of the DJ Vinal this pic came out great and thanks to the internet, I had great references for her that other artists have done. Octavia Philharmonica is a fannon name for this musician playing in the background of the Grand Galloping Galla, as IronBloodAika said on 30 November, her “interaction with Pinky (being relatively unphased with her excitable behavior) and stoic professionalism” caught the fanbase’s attention. Fans tend to match a sophisticated, British-accented Octavia with a rowdy raver Vinyl Scratch because of the “Odd Couple” vibe…

I dont know if there are any facts as like many characters, shes a unique extra. Plenty of people make drawings of her because woodwind instruments are quite rare these days.
Also I hear there is alot of fanfiction between her and Vinyl Scratch, not that I read any.

Yup, very real. I don't exactly remember why they aren't more common. I think it was playability issues though. With five strings you'd have to tilt the bow more in order to hit the end strings and you'd risk hitting the instrument.
The name is familiar, and I feel like I should know it, but I'm drawing a blank.

Like Vinyl Scratch, she only had a few seconds of screen time in the show, albeit a bit more than Vinyl.
Unlike Vinyl, she did have a speaking line in the new movie.
Most of the time, she's depicted as a sophisticated, classy character but not to the point where she acts like a rich snob.
So, yeah, you could say she's a polar opposite to Vinyl.
And I guess her simple yet elegant design is the reason why people took a liking to her.

unless an episode came out that more prominently featured her, Octavia's just another case of a pony in the background being really well liked for their design, and the fans just ran with it. they tend to pair her together with Vinyl because a) they're both music related, and b) this is the MLP:FiM fandom. lesbian pairings are almost all they ship.

Octavia, like DJ Pon-3 and Derpy Hooves, is just one of those minor background characters who inexplicably caught the attention of the fandom. She appeared in the season 1 finale "The Best Night Ever", playing at the Grand Galloping Gala and being quietly classy.
Anyway, I like how this pic came out. She's sexy, but in a classy and understated way.
