"Solaris?"

The prince heard his mother's worried voice behind him as the room was suddenly illuminated by the light of her glowing horn, "yes mother?" he replied, still scanning the shelves but only half paying attention to the old dusty books in front of him. "its late, what are you doing down here?" Celestia asked, a worried tone growing stronger in her voice with each word. "studying" Solaris said as he flattened his ears against his unkempt mane in annoyance of his mother's presence.

"Solaris, there is nothing for you to study, you've already excelled all of my teachings and have proved to be very intelligent on your own. Why in the world do you feel the need to study more?" Celestia tilted her head slightly in confusion, only to be greeted by an annoyed snort from her child, "intelligent isnt good enough mother, if I am to be a worthy future ruler of Equestria I need to know all there is to know about our world, our threats, our allies and all other things worthy of my attention." Solaris said, still staring at the shelves of old tattered books.

Celestia sighed, "Solaris, I know you feel a lot of pressure is put upon you with you being heir to the throne, but that does not mean that you need to spend your whole young life shut inside this dusty old library alone just studying all the time. I didn't have the opportunity that you have, I was thrown into the title of royalty alongside my sister at a very young age and we didn't have time to just be young, to just...live. Celestia choked a little bit and then sighed, holding the persistent tears back as she spoke, "its your choice, but I advise you take that chance, the royal formalities can wait." Celestia said quietly, "I also advise you get some rest" The white alicorn said before walking out of the library, leaving Solaris in the dark without the light of her glowing horn.

Solaris sighed after his mother left, then he stood up and walked over to a large mirror that had hung on the wall and wiped the dust off of it's surface. As the prince looked at himself in the still somewhat dusty mirror he noticed that the bags and dark circles under his eyes were more prominent that ever, and his mane was messily strewn over his shoulders in a tangled mess. The prince then swallowed hard and turned to leave the library for the first time in days, as Solaris walked up the stairs to the library's exit he caught a glimpse of the moon through a window and smiled, pausing for just a moment to admire it, then continuing down the hall to his quarters.

Once Solaris got to his room he sighed, as he looked around and realized he hadn't recognized it at first, then the prince climbed up onto his large bed, burying himself in the covers as he made himself comfortable, then within a few minutes the prince was asleep.

so as for Solaris' character, because his mother was thrown into the throne at such a young age due to the war (explained in the video in the link above) he assumes he is going to be put into that position as well and spends many of his early years studying and much as possible as to be ready for the throne when his time comes, which it will eventually when him and his cousin Day Dreamer (who he will rule alongside when the time comes) come of age.
