Hazel took a hesitant step forward, keeping a close eye on the book upon her head. “Chin up dear, we can't have an improperly positioned princess.” Twilight corrected her daughter with a smile, Hazel resisted the urge to throw the book upon her head at her mother, I’m trying jeez she thought to herself.

After Hazel had corrected herself and lifted her chin slowly, not wanting to disturb the book, Twilight threw another correction at her.

“Honey keep your tail up, slouching tails are neither attractive nor ladylike.” Twilight said, motioning for her daughter to follow the order. Hazel began to grit her teeth as she lifted her tail, I swear to celestia if you don’t stop pointing out every little mistake I make I’m going to burn your entire library to the ground mother.

Hazel couldn't help but feel annoyed as her mother listed even more things she needed to fix, like the fact that she was taking too heavy of steps or the fact that she had her head a little too far to the left.

“Honey please! Smile!” Twilight traced a smile on her own face with her hooves as she gave her daughter an example of how to smile perfectly, that was the breaking point for Hazel.

“I’M TRYING!” Hazel shouted angrily, ignoring the fact that the book had fallen off of her head.

“Hazel Brew! A princess does not raise her voice.” Twilight scolded, completely oblivious to just exactly how annoyed and angry Hazel was at the moment as she tried to levitate the book back onto Hazel’s head.

As Twilight tried to put the book back on Hazel’s head, Hazel suddenly slammed her hoof to the ground.

“STOP” Hazel shouted angrily, small sparks of blue magic radiating from her horn in small bursts. “When are you going to get it through your thick skull that I’m not cut out for this mother!?” Hazel’s voice cracked a little, partially out of anger and partially because she was on the verge of tears from frustration.

Twilight sighed, ignoring her daughter’s little “tantrum” as she would have called it. “Hazel I am doing this for you, everything we’ve done over the years is for you. You are going to be a princess whether you like it or not, and I will do everything in my power to make sure that by the time you’re 18 you’ll be wearing a crown!” Twilight raised her voice but only slightly, still trying to abide by the “princess rules”.

Hazel snorted angrily we’ll see about that mother. she thought to herself. Before Twilight could say anything else, Hazel stormed out of the room angrily.

A few minutes after Hazel had left, Sunset Shimmer poked her head into the large room. “I just passed Hazel in the hall, she looked pretty angry.” Sunset then noticed Twilight’s slumped shoulders, “did something happen?” Sunset asked.

“Hazel doesn't want to be a princess.” Twilight said, obviously angry and upset. Sunset sensed the tension in her wife’s voice and went over to sit beside her, placing a gentle hoof on Twilight’s shoulder. “You just need to give her time Twilight, I’m sure Hazel will come around eventually, you just need to ease up on her a bit.” Sunset said softly, nuzzling Twilight’s cheek affectionately afterwards.

“we don’t have time Sunset.” Twilight snapped, “I have less than a year to shape her into a princess, and then I have to help plan the coronation and-” “TWILIGHT.” Sunset cut her wife off abruptly.

“It’ll be okay.” Sunset smiled reassuringly, “just give her a little bit of time.”

Sunset pulled Twilight into an embrace and allowed the alicorn to shed some tears and just breathe, she knew this was hard for Twilight but they would have to keep going until what needed to be done was done.

Hazel has never been ready to become a princess, but Twilight has never given up on tying to mold her daughter into a perfect little princess. whenever Twilight tries to teach Hazel how to act like a princess, it usually ends up with one of them on the verge of or in tears, and two very angry mares.

when Hazel finally makes it to her coronation after turning 18, she allows the crown to be placed on her head but she hates every minute of it, then once the official coronation was complete and the celebration began Hazel fled from the castle, in a fit of anger at being forced to become a princess. she then comes back home after about a month of living in the Crystal Empire, with her friend Beauty and Beauty's family.

after staying with Beauty for about a month or so in secret, Hazel returned to Ponyville feeling defeated, she knew she wouldnt be able to hide form her duties as a princess forever. upon returning home, Hazel explained to her parents why she left in the first place. Hazel explained that it had been her dream since she was filly to explore Equestria, to see things, to make friends in new places, and to be able to just live. Hazel knew that becoming a princess would make it so that she couldn't achieve her dream of traveling Equestria and she hated it.

during this time, Hazel had been training in secret with Princess Luna to become a personal guard to Day Dreamer, so she's gained some more muscle and overall looks more toned, but Twilight does not notice her daughter's physical changes and just assumes the small amount of weight she's lost is her personal project instead of something suspicious.
