Well, some sort of ref sheet anyway... X3Commission from and his comic/fiction co-writer Jaime Bateman. The two of them are apparently working on some exciting project together...
I just *LOVE* to do character design like this... I came really close to actually "beg" for posting permission with this one because I'm so freakin' happy about the end result.
Alexis face, hair and body shape are a mix of elements from different refs pics I've got, but for the "spaceship" mechanic" suit, I had to start from scratch - and I had a blast doing it. On the right is a more leisurely suit.
Here's the character overview to go with the picture:
"Alexis (formerly 'test subject alpha lima x-ray one five'
was created in a laboratory run by renegade scientists in an effort to create a programmable, highly flexible agent designed to carry out a wide variety of missions. Unfortunately for her creators, her genome carried a few unexpected features that enabled her to escape the laboratory and, thus far, elude their best attempts to recapture her.Currently she hops from system to system in her stolen runabout and makes her living doing odd jobs - from off the books repairs and modifications to the occasional dancing gig in the spaceport bars."

Eh - that's the price I had to pay for showing it around... but that's the customer's right to ask for that mark, and I'm not going to argue the point.

In agree. But its still some stupendous work, and IMHO those customers should all realize one thing:
Their COMmed pic ain't going to be picked to be colored that way (or at least much less probabiblistically so).
But as you say, it's their prerogative to do so, and I'm not complaining: better to see it watermarked than not at all!
When I say "I'd have wmarked it", I just wanted you to know that you outdid yourself with such a pic.

Keep in mind the customers do have an non-watermarked copy. If they want to get it colored, they can.

Of course. But usually, is it not more often than not the other way around? i.e. Someone sees a pic they like, and wants to colour it. I wonder how seeing a watermarked image affects (i.e. changes) the % chance that an image gets coloured, or if it doesn't have any affect whatsoever? I wonder... Personnally, if I was a colourist, I'd be put off, but I realize that not all people "work" in the same manner...

Nice sheet. Anytime I tried to make a ref sheet I always fail by not having them look the same or same height. Good work on the back view, those are hard

You told me everything about the character except her personality. Interesting design, yes, but what kind of attitude does she have? Or was that for the commissioner to decide?

Sorry - there was a lot to say about this picture, and some things got on the backburner for one reason or another. As far as personality goes, the only snippet I got about the character was this:
"She's very handy but a little introverted."

I can see why you're proud with this one, the outfits are great and the poses are so cool! This is a great example of your artistic versatility! She's cute too...!
