Well, sorta finished.. ^^
I've decided to make a 4-elements combo sort of thing, not exactly as the Avatar, but.. oh well, you'll see. ^^

I used Photoshop for this one,
It's not the best option for animating (Flash is probably better, I just don't know how to use it..)
But if you really wanna get into 2D animation I recommend TVPaint animation- pretty great and easy to use (:

Right now I'm not really Avatar-driven, so maybe when the show comes back some of my motivation to finish with come with it.

Just a suggestion, maybe you can make the background a darker color (beige, the likes) to highlight the air flow. Other than that, well done.

And here I thought you were an amazing artist, it turns out you're a pretty darn good animator. Amazing for a first time thing!
It's a very simple drawing of the girl itself (no shadows, change in emotions or expressions, and stuff like that) but the anatomy is really well done and consistent, which is amazing. The only thing that seems weird to me (but I honestly have no idea) is that her hand seems to be on her hand in the very beginning and not in a similar attack position. Of course that might be what you meant or maybe that's where it's supposed to be because honestly I'm not good at judging animation stuff. If it looks good, it looks good
