It was an already made particle system, don't know if it specifically was from TF2 though, I gave a deep look at Dear Esther stuff in that period so it might come from that game.. Then I just edited it to give the kind of movement I wanted. It's been pretty hard, particles aren't easy at all

I used the round slider (I think it was that one) to get the "perfect loop" on Dash to avoid any sudden change between the last and first frame.. The most difficult thing was trying to loop the particles (I had to play around a lot with the particle editor) and lights since you don't have a direct control on the animated light textures

Working on something right now, might do an animated version of it too, I'll have to work with some coding though but it's not that hard. The hardest part will be animating with the cpu at 800MHz due to random laptop shit-throttling

They're just two lights with an animated Gobo Light Texture and one of them is a volumetric. It's something not used much but sometimes it helps a lot. The specific water-like texture was in a package I got from the workshop, it should be Gobo Lights Essential or something like thatΒ Β
That specific texture kinda sucks unless you add a little radius to the light itself because it removes the pixelated edges (I've set it to just 0.02, too much kinda screws it up but could still work in some cases)Β

I used Adobe Flash CC. I just imported an image sequence, added the song (in loop) and exported as a SWF file. I find SWF files better than GIFs because of the overall better quality and the possibility to add sound (and they don't kill my pc when I'm trying to load a big one). The size of the files is bigger, but it's worth to me
I might try to do something which is not just a loop of frames next time, I already have the idea but I still need to see a few things about Actionscript, mostly how variables work in it

Adobe Flash CC. You can download a free 30 day trial from the Adobe Creative Cloud application. It must be an image sequence though, you can't import videos in it
