Description The Lunar eclipse last night here on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It was a VERY cloudy night which ruined my idea of having a full start to finish of the eclipse but this is what I ended up with. This is my first ever attempt at a lunar eclipse.

The first moon was taken at 10:30pm.
The second moon was taken at 11:20 pm
The third moon was taken at 12:00 am
The last moon was taken at 1:15am.

I used photoshop CS5 to stitch the photos together and added a small amount of contrast/brightness.

Equipment:
Pentax x90
Tripod
Photoshop CS5
Patience

Clouds also covered it in Malaysia, but I could see post-eclipse. But I only saw a brown moon, not a red one!

we also had a total lunar eclipse though i was stuck inside all day ( i was so sad to miss it. And ours started at 4.20 pm or so, but its already dark at that hour here in winter times so the ones who wanted or could, were able to see it

Cool shot

Can I just remind you that you need to still rate the five (mostly mine admittedly) before yours in the Rate my Photography group.

Sorry it might not have been very clear but all you need to do is comment on the 5 preceding images with a score out of 10

Lunar schmunar. I would love to see -in my area- a total SOLAR eclipse. Or Betelguese blowing up !

I read of phenomena like the Eclipse Wind and the interference bands sweeping across the land as the shadow of the moon brushes us. A partial eclipse doesn't effect these.

All my life I've been an armchair astronomer. In the northeast USA.

Saw it here in the States around 6 AM. All except the final part, as the moon set before the eclipse could finish.

Hey, you're from Australia? Is it true that "kangaroo" really means "I don't know understand." (or something like that)? I heard that explorers asked Australians what the strange, never-before-seen animals there were called, and, since they speak a different language, the Australians replied "Kangaroo." and the explorers thought that's what the animals were called.

nekojen9 In reply to Naruga-LivingShadow [2011-12-11 14:45:09 +0000 UTC]

i live in Australia and what the hell is this.... when you say Australians do you mean Aboriginals? because the Aboriginals only speaked in murmuring and clicking sounds to communicate.

so no.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Naruga-LivingShadow In reply to nekojen9 [2011-12-12 07:53:19 +0000 UTC]

I don't know, that's just the way I heard it. ._.

What I meant was... Well... Like... Uh... So... Is-isn't in Australia... Don't you guys have a native language somewhere in there?

(I feel like such an idiot... )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nekojen9 In reply to Naruga-LivingShadow [2011-12-12 10:41:26 +0000 UTC]

nope, we came from England only Aboriginals but most of there language were wiped out like 100 years ago(becuase we white skins were such ass holes to them)
other countries, especially America, make up bull about us all the time, like how we 'ride kangaroo to school"

boom, a history lesson

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Naruga-LivingShadow In reply to nekojen9 [2011-12-12 10:47:31 +0000 UTC]

Hm. Well. Perhaps - just perhaps - the "Australians" the explorers spoke to were, indeed, also explorers? Speaking in their own native tongue?

...

I have a pet bearded dragon. They're from Australia, right? ... What's it like there? Desert-y? Hot? Dry? That's what I imagine...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nekojen9 In reply to Naruga-LivingShadow [2011-12-12 11:04:32 +0000 UTC]

ummm, there are no such things as explorers the England people came here in boats and populated. no explorers or anything like that.
theirs alot of beaches here, it can be very dry, rainy, windy, cool, just like all the other countries.
reason why people think were all deserts is because one of our popular tourist attraction is "uluru"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Naruga-LivingShadow In reply to nekojen9 [2011-12-12 12:05:52 +0000 UTC]

No such thing as explorers? Surely, when you first arrive somewhere, you don't know much about it, so you explore, right? Thus explorers. If they already knew their way around, then surely they'd know what a kangaroo was. See?

Uh, how can I explain it better...

Okay so you say the English came to Australia and populated. Alright. But remember: There's a first for everything, am I right? So their first time there, they come across kangaroos, and are all like, "WTF are these" then they see some other peeps and are all like "Lets ask 'em" so they do, and the other peeps (who speak a different language (whatever that language is)) are all like "...Kangaroo?" So then the English are like, "Oh k theyre kangaroos kthxbai"

Am I in the ballpark here?

ah, here we go, this is like the same qestion you asked [link] but its proven fiction. but its still a myth (god i don't know anymore)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Naruga-LivingShadow In reply to nekojen9 [2011-12-12 12:38:32 +0000 UTC]

A myth, hm? Well okay then.

I feel like that took longer than it should have to figure out, but whatevah.

nekojen9 In reply to Naruga-LivingShadow [2011-12-12 12:21:59 +0000 UTC]

what i ment was is that, sure, they did explore a lil' bit, but they mostly belt homes wherever they could and stuff, plus there weren't much to explore in the first place.

they would never ask the Aboriginals anything they were at -war?- with the white people.
