I'm going to be perfectly honest, and as fair as I can be: it's writing on paper. There really isn't much to it at all, in terms of vision, originality, technique, or impact, but here I go:

VISION:

The vision of the quote is fine enough, but I'm not about to give this any of that value, considering it's from someone else.

ORIGINALITY:

Considering this is a quote from someone else, there is virtually nothing original about this picture at all.

TECHNIQUE:

The technique is fine enough: decent quality picture, and no immediately negative qualities about it. But let's be honest; fork over enough money for a decent enough camera, and it's hard to screw up this sort of thing, and consumerism does not impress me.

IMPACT:

If you're so impacted by words on paper, then I'll offer you the advice to abstain from buying sticky notes. Seriously. Nothing about the picture significantly adds to the impact of the quote. Perhaps if there lay a person or animal in the background in need of help or anything like that you could have a supporting theme, but a blurred, barren appearing background hardly holds anything to support the quote at all.

CONCLUSION:

It's really hard to critique something that offers so little in the way of artistic merit or originality without coming off as harsh, but my point is that it isn't difficult to write a quote you like on a piece of paper and take a picture of it. Unless you don't have hands or something, in which case, bravo.

It's a hipster thing I think. they think it's artistic for no reason.

and hey, maybe it is artistic, I just don't think the effort is nearly commensurate to the appraisal.

Vision:
I agree with *AgentCoke on this it is to the point and it's simple and not distracting on what you are trying to get across.

Originality:
I like how it's to the point but also again it in someways it's very simple to do I think you would want to make it different and unique. I think it would be interesting to have a silhouette of two people possibly against a bright background then have the words at an angle in the corner or something using that same sheet of paper. But just a thought

Technique:
I like the fact that the photograph though is crisp up front and the background isn't distracting because then it disrupts from the main point.

Impact:
Thank you for sharing this quote with me I think in a way if people read things like this more often we wouldn't look anymore down on people but instead how we ourselves should look at each other as equals because even though we may be of different colors, shapes, and sizes we are all one thing in common we are all humans. :] I think it does make an impact especially the words.

Vision
Vision is great - it's certainly all and all obvious of the point you're trying to get across, and it's expressed well, s great job there!

Originality
Unfortunately, there really isn't too much originality in writing a quote on a piece of paper that you're holding in your hand. Maybe if you were to capture it sitting somewhere, perhaps under or in a tree maybe, it would be more original in that sense and stand out more.

Technique
Technique wise, pretty good! Although it is hard to mess up something like this, which is why I knocked off a half point. But the image quality is good and you can read the writing fine. I like the blurred background especially - It gives it a nice background without taking away from the foreground.

Impact
It's a great quote and I like it, quite a strong message going through. Not much to say about this one really

Overall, really nice!

I do not understand why talented photographers such as yourself continue to do photos like these. They are not original or inspiring at all. Whenever I see one- especially one coming from someone who as such good technique and vision like yourself- it makes me cringe. This looks like a copy of every other photo like this: someone holding up a note card with an 'inspirational' message against an out-of-focus background with a nice filter. It's bland, it's boring, and it doesn't stand out at all.

You did one photo similar to this with the saying 'Nothing lasts forever' or something along those lines. I liked that one because it was semi-original. You had the paper flaming, thus further illustrating the message. If you insist on doing pieces like these, do something along those lines. Think of your own messages rather than just cliches. Or perhaps come up with a more creative way to get the message across.

You know, its things like this that make me extremely happy overall and extremely thankful that deviantart extended critiques to EVERYONE can write one. Otherwise, I couldn't give this what it truly deserves; a very nice critique. You can't hear this quote without it pulling on your conscience in some way and seeing it in such lovely handwriting that's clear and bold really makes it all the more impacting. With the waves of color in the background giving a sort of emphasis to the paper, it makes the message clearer. And with it being a quote that needs to be remembered more often than it is, this entire photograph means something to the whole world we live in. Nice work and continue spreading this message for all!

I'd like to start this critique with saying that I think this piece is absolutely lovely, so sorry if I offend at all.

My first suggestion would be to consider changing the background, I kind of feel like if the note is just going to be in front of a generic, out-of-focus green area the it might as well just be an image of the piece of paper. I think that something relevant may help to increase the power this piece has.

On a positive note I really like the inclusion of (presumably) your own hand, as it adds a personal touch. Maybe you could do more with this as the quote is, after all, about lending a hand...

I've always been a fan of simple photography, while It's safe to say that this isn't the most original idea, but who cares about that for this photograph in particular e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> Such a simple photography sending out a powerful message to everybody that views it. The focus on the card and the background is wonderful and could be suggested as advice being given to someone who can't see the world for what it actually is and needs to learn to respect the people in it. The handwriting is very clear and helps send the message across and leaves a powerful impact on anybody who sees this photography. Overall a wonderful image that people can't help but like e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

It's not very original (not in the slightest in fact), yet Originality gets 4 stars.

That's what I was thinking as well. Admittedly, I also find that this quote is kind of boring...It might be a motivational piece but I really don't think its a great work of art.

To me it's a completely unremarkable dime-a-dozen pic, but that's a matter of taste and perspective (obviously someone who hasn't seen a million versions of this will be left more impressed). It's *BRTPhotography 's inherent hypocrisy that struck me.

What if it's to acknowledge what not to do/be; vice, it seems, is easiest discovered in oneself by seeing others who are victims of it. So I often look down on people but I also look up to people. Acknowledging the inequality of humanity is healthy, denial turns people to relativism.
