Hey there! This is a sweet tutorial! I myself make wallpapers and I have found this really neat trick in WoW model viewer; with this trick you won't have to cut out backgrounds anymore and it can really up the quality of your characterrenders to use in Photoshop.
There is a way to make a screenshot WITHOUT a background inside WoW Modelviewer. How? By rendering a .PNG (Portable Network Graphic) file. This type of file allows transparant backgrounds.
Once you've set up the character in a nice pose you go to 'File - Save Sized Screenshot'. It'll ask you where to save. Pick a folder and a name. MAKE SURE TO SAVE THIS IMAGE AS A .PNG, not a .JPEG or .BMP (You can select the filetype under the filename.)
Once you've done that, WoW Model Viewer will ask you the canvas width and height. This is important, because it'll control the resolution your image will have.
In the bottom right of the window, WoW model viewer will tell you the "Max Size". From what I understand, the "max size" differs per graphics card in your computer. The more powerful it is, the higher this number.
You'd think the right resolution to put here is 1920 x 1080 right? You could do that, but there is nothing preventing you from going a little overboard. By rendering your image in a higher resolution you'll have much more freedom in Photoshop, since you will be able to scale this rendered image up to 300% and it'll still look crisp and clear.
Be careful though. If you go over the "max size" the program suggest, your program will crash and you'd have to set up your character all over again.
This may be completely different for your system, but I have grown acustomed to rendering with a resolution of 8192 x 4771 pixels, as it was suggested the first time I found this feature. This HUGE resolution allows me to scale the image in Photoshop later if I deem it necesarry, without it losing quality drasitcally. (Since I will drag this render into a Photoshop file of 1920 x 1080 pixels). You may have to play around with this to find the optimal settings for you.
Once you've set it up, click save. Now DON'T PANIC. Your WoW Model viewer will minimize. It hasn't crashed. It's rendering your image. It shouldn't take longer than 10 seconds for the PNG file to appear in folder you've put it in. Once that's done you can click on WoW Model Viewer's icon in your taskbar and it'll be back working as normal again.
And with that, you've rendered a super high resolution rendered image of whatever model you put there, WITHOUT a background. Since PNG is a very common filetype, Photoshop will recognize it and its transparacy. Just drag and drop, and have fun!
(NOTE: Sometimes, when there's white in your model (such as a bright white sword) the render may have accidentally made that transparant as well. Usually this is very easily fixed by dragging your render into Photoshop and duplicating its layer about 8 times. You can then select these 8 layers and merge them, problem solved.)
Hope I haven't stated something painfully obvious or explained in a strange manner!
Yours truly,
LCwow

The setting I use is Colour:32 Depth:24 Alpha:8 FSAA:16 DoubleBuffer Hardware mode, but I think there may be a higher one. Just look for higher numbers. If your then apply the settings and reopen WMV, the settings will save unless they are too high for your computer, so drop it down until you get the highest settings that save Hope that made sense!

Go to view, then model control, which will show the model control panel. Try ticking/unticking the boxes on the left-hand side - you will hopefully find the one that removes the extra hair
