i always get kinda paranoid about drawing anthro cause it's so easy to screw up and fall into the uncanny valley so hard you break your legs.but i like the challenge.

if you're afraid of uncanny valley - just keep in mind that you've already sort of avoided that by drawing them anthro. the 'deviation' from human to horse people thrust the drawing down on the uncanny valley table more than enough that its safe from looking creepy, at least to those who already appreciate anthro art

whether you want to admit it or not - 'anthro artwork' is by default furry... since thats pretty much the most basic definition of furry art
and its not impossible to make cute horse anthros - you've just proven that.
but i understand what you mean: IMO its all in the head. its hard to make a horsy head that looks sympathetic. but if you can pull it off (which i think you're doing) then the characters suddenly come alive

no, actually the opposite. the experiment on how to make them into another form without getting weird or kinky. to just make em appear "normal".
