Description And here's an example of the Scatter And Transmit shaders, also unique to this set (and indeed, unique in the market right now, although I hope other vendors will adopt the method where relevant going forward).  Scatter Transmit in this case refers to the translucency channel.  Ultra-pale characters with realistic skin are much easier to accomplish with this setting, since people who are very pale tend to have skin that seems more translucent than people who are tan or dark.

Those veins you see are on the included translucency map.  They're also much more visible on the Scatter And Transmit shader versions.  This was Fuseling's ST01 preset from the V7 folder; I can't quite recall what skin this is but I think it's DS Carmilla.  That's GoldTassel's lovely Firefly hair and the Aeon Soul alphakini, of course.

As with all promos in this set, rendered in Iray with no postwork.

It's just astonishing, i look forward to grab it. O_O
Specially the tone of the translucency ( blue/grey) is absolutely spectacular and gives the "proper" pale tone.
is it already out?

Nope, it's still in testing!  I will announce it here as soon as it's out.

well, you have stalk.....erm, watcher

Iray still giving me troubles, i have difficulties to relate with this engine ( just personal taste/approach, nothing more) but....the skin made for IRay behave greatly in Octane too, almost without extra manipulation, so i am really interested and i will keep an eye open. Well, both.

Thank you so much.

That is very impressive!

I have Beautiful Skin for G2M, will there be an 02 version for this? I would certainly purchase it!
I love the version I have, one use is that characters can have a nice sheen to the skin like from using sun oil.
However, I love pale skin, and what you have achieved above is remarkable! We really are pushing toward photo quality here.
I would be very interested to know what level of convergence and render quality setting you used.

Regarding Render Quality setting;-

Have you experimented with this setting?
A thread in the Daz forum (which I have now lost but likely can easily be found) concluded that any difference between a setting of 1 and a setting of around 4.5 was not readily visible, and could only be seen by getting a program to isolate the differences in the finished images and create a "difference image". The main difference between 1 & 4.5 was to about triple the render time for 4.5!
I have reduced from 5 - a figure I pulled out of the air - to 1, and I can't see any difference flicking back & forth between renders on a 27inch 5k mac screen, therefore as far as I am concerned a setting of 5 is unnecessary,  and the render time has reduced to a bit more than one third!
I will likely try dropping to say 0.8, as this may reduce render time significantly whilst having little or no effect on quality.
Any experience or thoughts on this?

Regards

I'm not 100% sure if there's a market for another G2 product just for the scatter/transmit versions.  I'll ask around.

I've experimented a little, and I agree with that result - I haven't tried all the way up to 4.5 because it would take forever, but above 1 doesn't do much for me other than increase render time.  I leave it at 1.

My normal progressive settings are the default 7200 seconds and 5000 samples, quality 1.0, and convergence 99 or 100% (usually 100% for the double-size versions for dA, 99 for the smaller ones for the store).  Setting the seconds/samples higher doesn't do anything without convergence at 100 anyway, and 5k samples is usually sufficient for my renders when it goes the full sample count and doesn't quit before it's done.  I think a lot of people with grainy results at 7200/5000 just aren't changing convergence so it isn't going the distance.

It's killer work as always. Love the vein work. Just kinda wish that darker skin tones would get some love. But I know for most they are harder to work with. One of the reasons why I will be waiting to get G3. I'm sure about maybe 8 months before G4 drops there will be that one good model that will show up.

SickleYield In reply to VKrull [2015-08-01 03:06:09 +0000 UTC]

I would if I could.  There are no dark skins out for G3F yet (or if there are, link me so I can buy one).

And darker skin tones are /easier/ to work with in Iray!  It's easier to get proper specularity and reflection the darker a skin is in this engine.  That's why you see so many very tan characters in the most realistic renders, because it's easier to make those characters look photoreal.

The product will work great with dark skin using the Scatter Only shaders that are included, and there are specularity presets too, in case that is needed.  I just didn't have any dark skins available to me to use (you will note that there are dark characters in the G2 version's promos at DAZ).

This is really nice, Sickle!
It´s just a pity that these extras are not included in the G2F version.
I don't use G3F.

I would have if I'd known! I'm learning new things about Iray all the time.  The last time I made an eyebrow conformer was at Rendo, and it didn't do that well back then because I didn't have a tablet for making the transmaps; and I discovered the scatter transmit trick quite by accident while experimenting.
