Pearl probably discouraged him calling them that, Amethyst probably encouraged it, and Garnet was probably neutral.

Pearl- those AREN'T our names! He's not pronouncing them correctly.
Amethyst- Pearl, relax, he'll get them right eventually. We might as let him carry on with it.
Pearl- if we do this now, then he'll never get them right!
Garnet- Pearl, Amethyst. Steven is not even a year old. He has not developed yet to pronounce that many words. When he gets older we will correct him. For now, we will let it carry on.
