Description My submission for NATG VIII: Day 7!

Today's theme was "Draw a pony in danger / Draw a pony living life on the edge." I've used the "on the edge" pun effectively to edge of its ends. Quite literally since last year I think my pun on it was being "near the end of a rope / near the edge of a rope." So I had to go for some joke based on "a pony in danger." My first thought, as usual, was a pony somehow literally inside danger, but I couldn't think of something punny to stand-in for "danger" for a pony to be inside of, outside of just writing the word "danger!" Eventually I settled on the idea of taking "danger" in a less literal imminent sense, spawning first from the idea of taking a risky move in a game (like going all-in in a betting game) and saying "I like to live life on the edge!" And so the money and game idea made me think of Monopoly and how it's a "dangerous" game to play—it'll tear a riff in even the closest of friends and family. And then I immediately thought of the "Monopony" pun, because that's what I like to call the pony Monopoly game. And settled on not taking the prompt at face value and also incorperating a pun, I was basically set on the idea. But I didn't want to draw, like, multiple ponies playing "Monopony," so I tried to find a way to just have to draw one pony xD So here it is. Pinkie came immediately to mind as the pony to be asking to play the game, for some reason; and so for Twilight, being the one she would ask. Don't know why, it just was

Anyhoof, not the most happy with this one. Initially I was going to do shading like I often do (soft shading), but then I decided I didn't really want to. And then last minute I decided I'd go for flat shading I don't think I did it too bad, but it's far from perfect. I am quite fond of the cartoon-y flat shading style, though; I've done it at least once or twice before, I think. So I wouldn't mind doing it more. It's a little easier to do than soft shading.
Otherwise, I think it's mostly headshape again that leaves me a little unhappy. Oh, and yes, I realise that there's no cutiemark, but I just didn't feel like drawing it in the end, so I'm pretending it's somehow hidden underneath her mane The funny thing is, I originally drew it so that some of the cutiemark would be showing—part to do the practice, part because I like when you can see the cutiemark—but then near the end I just didn't feel like doing it, haha. Ah well, I was short for time as it was, so I don't know if I could've fitted in doing it anyhoof, unless I dropped the shading.

Love the idea. <3 Monopony is best pun too. Plus, seriously, this game can drive a saint nuts.

The shading here is really nice IMO. I like this style very much.

Haha, yeah, I love it too. Especially saying it, because I say it just like Monopoly, just with an "n" instead of an "l" (so like /məˈnɒpəni/). So the "pony" part of "Monopony" doesn't actually sound like the word pony, it sounds more like ... the word "punny" now that I think on it, which I guess is perfectly fitting xD

Oh, well that's good to hear I wasn't entirely sold on at least parts of it I'd done, but I'm glad to hear it still comes across just fine!

Oh yeah. As well as a potential risk of tearing family and friends appart, haha.
