Thank you very much for clarifying that matter. I think you are right. It is definitly a photo of some kind of succulent. Might well have been a sempervivum.

It as a sempervivum — a really beautiful species. Sadly it dies after it has flowered. Only the little offsets it perhaps made around the parent rosette will continue to survive.

This a beautiful image - the background is wonderful and focus is spot on!
Having said that, I wonder if it wouldn't be even better if you could get closer - so close that the flower would be cropped and take most of the space.
Here the flower occupies a quarter of the image or less - how about making it at least half? I would try to crop about half the distance between the center of the flower and the edge, on the top, bottom and left!
I tried cropping it, and due to the position of the yellow was left with a square image see [link] . shooting from a little lower it could be cropped even tighter.
(couldn't submit as a critique because I don't have premium membership at the moment...)

I really like the way you cropped the image. I'll shoot this flower again this weekend with higher aperture, which will be even more suitable for your way of cropping.

Great! I think we are all scared of getting too close, but a good tight crop packs a lot of punch!

Great shot, very nice colors! It bit blurred at the centre, but you can see where you have focused, well done
