Description
This is a tutorial I started ages ago, rediscovered earlier today and finally finished it.I'd like to dedicate this to all of you for being so supportive and liking my stock
READ THIS:
This tutorial isn't meant for complete newbies, although I tried to explain everything as thoroughly as possible. But, as you can see, it is quite long, so I wanted to include only the most important information and cut out pointless babbling. If you have questions or problems, let me know.

what would you use instead of grain merge for photoshop users ?

I don't use Photoshop, so I'm not familiar with it... I googled for some images, though, and it seems that there isn't an exact match for it, but I think that Linear or Hard light option should be quite close. If the colors are too vivid, just lower the opacity.
