Beautifully done. The only thing I notice is that the mane looks rougher and not the silky beauty of the rest of the piece.

No, sorry, these were simple colored pencils and aquarel pencils. Aquarel pencils are quite easy to blend, but it doesn't always pay, the drawing looks dirty, as you can see here: [link] Now I simply try to do lighter hues, it's a lot of work, but it looks great if there are deep shades, too.

ooh ok! I use prisma colors, because someone told me they were some of the best to use. I've never heard of Aquarel, but I will have to try them out!

Oh, I don't know about that. I think you can use them damn well. This is such a beautiful piece, and the color does make it stand out. What I can't get over is the detail you incorporated into it even with the colored pencils. That vein in the hind leg just boggles my mind.
